: Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : savage727 February 23, 2005, 05:51:13 AM Ok FTY - where did your Legolas avatar go? We wants to know my preciousissis!! Are you washing that man out of your hair?
As for the auction - like they say - there is a sucker born every minute! : Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : ferdinand_the_yak February 23, 2005, 06:11:29 AM Oh no no no... Legolas will always be here ;)
But I thought everyone would be sick of seeing him here - so he's off for a break - I promise he will be back to keep Aragorn happy ;) Meanwhile, he is replaced most ably by my favourite characters from 'Finding Nemo' - the 'Mine!' seagulls ;D : Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : Roz February 23, 2005, 03:49:39 PM Are you washing that man out of your hair? Oh no! I'll be singing "I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair" all day now.... THANKS ::) : Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : ferdinand_the_yak February 23, 2005, 04:08:59 PM That's a song???????
: Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : Roz February 23, 2005, 04:53:48 PM Yeah - My mum used to sing it - perhaps to annoy Dad or something :P I doubt she made it up as she sang it with an American accent ... which would be a tad odd... is it from the 50s Ed?
: Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : savage727 February 23, 2005, 07:25:37 PM That song is a classic from the movie "South Pacific" from 1958! It is one wonderful musical based on James Mitchner's book "Tales of the South Pacific" for which he won a Pulitzer Prize. It is based on stories he wrote about when he was out there in the South Pacific in World War II. Rogers and Hammerstein turned South Pacific into one of the most celebrated musicals of all time and won the Academy Award for Best Sound that year. I personally love the song "Some Enchanted Evening" and "Bali Ha'i". The DVD is something I watch every Thanksgiving eve as it used to be broadcast by NBC TV when I was growing up so now that I am older I have continued that tradition myself. :)
If you have not seen the movie I would certainly recommend you rent it from your local video store but be sure to watch the original from 1958 and not the recent remake from several years ago which was not in the same league as the original. Rossano Brazzi portrays Emil, the French Planter and has one of the best singing voices I have ever heard. :) : Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : Roz February 23, 2005, 07:42:56 PM Thanks Ed, I've added it to the top of my rental list :)
: Re:So THAT is what they spent their time doing in NZ!!! : savage727 February 24, 2005, 03:29:15 AM After responding to your email I pulled out South Pacific and watched it on my computer this morning! :) What a wonderful movie! :)
