They give you a complete listing of artists AND exactly how many sketches each drew AND a scan of each sketch A MONTH BEFORE the release date of the product!  I'm always amazed at how well Inkworks and Rittenhouse communicate their product to collectors through their web site.

I received a surprise letter from an old friend in the States this morning (she's retired so no longer has access to the net to email), and there was an advert for Rodney COpperbottom and ROBOTS on the postmark - that's cool.

We don't get movie ads on postmarks here but we got one for the Two Towers which was COOOOL

Its great to see Warren Martineck's work there - and his cards look fantastic!

Not that the rest aren't as well though :)

I have never been too big of a fan of sketch cards, but I love these!
I'm getting a box or two simply for the sketches.  I hope the movie is good.

Did anyone end up getting boxes? If you have post some pics here, or let us know what number so we can go to the inkworks site and take a look, I would love to see what cards you got! I have seen some sketch cards up on ebay already and they look great!!

I just took a look on eBay and all I can say is WOW!  These look great.  I check out quite a few, and I don't think there's a bad sketch in the bunch.  It certainly puts some other recent sketches to shame!

Absoloutely - in the link sketchqueen posted you can see ALL the sketches that went in the set - Inkworks always seem to scan them in as a record - it shows pride in what they are doing - not like others I could mention *ahem* Topps Star Wars Heritage *ahem*.

I just got two sketch cards off of ebay. The pictures did not do the cards justice, they're really gorgeous.  I got Tone Rodriguez #465 & Mark Dos Santos #342.

I haven't seen many on ebay though. I wonder where they are.

i'm looking foreward to the Family Guy sketch cards inkworks are making . should be good. anyone else going to collect tem?

I have just finished sorting my case of Robots and I am very supprised I got 27 full base sets and only 5 spare cards left over I have more cards left over from Chase card sets than I do from the base cards.

and I got 3 sets of each of the 4 Chase set (box, Fender bender, Big city and Rusties to the rescue)

The real shocker for me was that I got 27 Base Sets from the 10 boxes and only 5 spare base cards 6,15,57,60 and 87

well done inkworks that is how it should be the thing I hate about collecting cards is the hundreds of cards I have left over that I can't make up into sets


I have received a few emails asking if i was willing to sell any of the sketches I pulled as I will be selling them at memorabilia and people can't go  so if anyone is interested in any of them I am accepting offers but no promises they maybe already gone

I think this is what we are going to find as we move towards the manufacturers who put guarantees on their collation - however 5 spare cards is really exceptional :P

I bought one box and had a great collation - 2 base sets and 9 chase cards, not including the sketch or the boxloader! BTW, I got a colored sketch of Fender by Joel Gomez - #165. :D

I opened my case of cards early this morning and these are the sketch cards I pulled.  Unfortunately I got 1 dud box, so I only have 9 cards to share instead of 10.

I LOVE the color Rodney sketch!  The Fender and Diesel cards with the shading are really nice, too.  Except for the dud, that was a great case!  Hopefully, Inkworks will help you with that.

Doesn't Inkworks guarantee that it will have the insert card?  I know they guarantee a complete set per box.

Sketch 3,4, and 5 are awesome.

I haven't been keeping track how are the Robots sketch cards selling?

On the Inkworks web site, they state "SKETCH CARDS - ONE PER HOBBY BOX!".  So I e-mailed them this morning about it.  I'm just waiting to hear back from them.

The sketch cards on ebay all seem to be selling well, but there are so few of them listed.  I did win a colored one the other day:

What are the special cards in the retail packs?

That's wonderful!  They sent you a nice sketch, too.

I think the hobby boxes and the retail boxes are both the same except a hobby box will contain a sketch card.  The randomly inserted bonus cards have special foil stamping.

Wow, you must have been thrilled to pack-pull those sketches!  All of my sketches were purchased from Anna or eBay.  One of these days, I'm going to buy a couple of boxes to try my luck.

I finally opened my Robots box that I won for $13.57 + $5.00 for shipping.  This was in the very first pack I opened, it's a John Czop sketch of Piper in ink, #228/300. 8)

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I finally added the newest part to the Robots movie section on my site. If you go to the Robots section you'll see "Robots sketch cards sold on ebay". What you'll see there is over 300 Robots sketch card (ended auction) prices that have been sold on ebay. I have kept track of all that have sold since they came out. Now if one was listed in some odd catagory (like automotive or something like that) then I probably didn't see it.

But hopefully it will help some of you out and you can use those past sales to guide you in what some of the sketch cards could be worth. I'll keep updating it every once in a while like I do the Marvel Sketchagraphs sold on ebay.

Tim, that's awesome work, I think everyone inside this thread has some idea of how hard you have worked on that price guide (from their own first hand experience ;)). It's very difficult with sketches, to make a guide like that as each one is so different, but your notes on the contents etc are wonderful - hats off to you :)

The cards are fantastic,, i justs missed out on one card.. so disappointed.. full color, anyway lets move on.. am looking at another Rodney from a guy i deal with in Australia... A little expensive although he has submit best offer (although this is how i missed the first, put in offer and was sold full price within 6 hours of listing.. DOH!) so i have submitted offer and awaitin a response..

The seller has a bunch of cards. But just about all of them are more than I would pay. I know it has best offer, but some of them I would have to offer close to half of the BIN to be in the range of what they have been selling for, given equal artist and if it's colored or not.

But the colored Rodney by Nar is a nice card. I'm looking for a colored Nar but not for $150. If an inked one averages $20, then I would guess $55-$75 for a colored would be plenty for how many he did. Which is about 34 assorted characters and 34 red tie Ratchet's. Good luck on getting that card!

I opened some more boxes, I'll have to post some of them. Although I should have all my cards on my site sometime this week. I changed the section that shows my cards. I have all the artists listed and I have the appropriate cards below their name.  ;D

Just a question, what do you mean when you refer to "pack pulled"?? does this mean you go through a box till you get a sketch card? if so, what are the chances of there being a second sketch in a box?

Excellent cards!  It's nice that you were able to pull some good color sketches.

Julie -- Pack-pulled means that you pulled the card from any pack, whether a single pack you bought at a store or packs from a box.  Most of the Robots boxes had one sketch per box, but occasionally the collation was off and you might get two in one box.  But for every one of those, there could be a box missing a sketch.  It happened to Anna, but Inkworks sent her a sketch to make up for it.

I'm v.e.r.y. slowly working on getting a set of Warren's & John's Robots cards - have gotten a few others along the way.

I think it's safe to say you have most of us!

I started off with Warren's sketch of Diesel and a Gomez sketch of Rodney and thought that would be enough.  How wrong I was. ::)  Now I'm hooked and want to get one from each artist.

I just received this one today. :)  It isn't in color, but so far it's the favorite in my small collection.

I agree.   Moreno's sketches are great, but I HATE the colored marker through them.  At least not ALL his sketches had that, but the majority sure did :(
