Hmmm.... my favourite thing ever is soup and nice bread - my latest soup is Brocoli and stilton - because we have tonnes left over from Christmas ... well not now anyway ;)

I'll have to get him to post his fave food/s on here tomorrow Roz. ;)

Chocolate. Anything chocolate- esp. very good chocolate :)

Unless you count Gillian Anderson.  YUM!

I have a lot of favorite foods.

I like chile verde (pork with green chiles) with Spanish rice, roast beef dip sandwiches, submarine sandwiches, pizza, chicken Caesar salads and dark chocolate. ;D

This is where everything takes a downhill slide :(

I haven't tried or even heard of either of these... it sounds like I am SERIOUSLY missing out  :'(

well i like a 12oz beef burger :o and on sunday a sunday rost

I am looking forward to going back to Disney World in May.....and in the Magic Kingdom, just beside the Dumbo ride is an ice cream shop.They make the most wonderful STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE SUNDAES in the World....I can taste it now

Is that something new?  I've been there many times, but not in the past few years, and I can't remember an ice cream shop in that section of the park.

There used to be an ice cream shop/restaurant on the bottom floor of the Polynesian where you can make your own ice cream sundaes.  I don't know if it's still there, but you might want to look for it!

The name of the place escapes me it's either Mrs ............. Pantry or Aunt ..........Pantry.
It's been there for the past 3 years,so I hope it's still there.There is also Funnel cakes,........all them calories ;D ;D ;D

Hey, who cares about calories when you're on vacation! :D  There are certainly plenty of places to eat in Disney World.  We really enjoyed the Mexican, French, and Italian restaurants in EPCOT.

If I was picking a snack, definitely chocolate, but as for my all time favorite food?  Well, that is easy, I have very expensiv taste and would love a plate with a lobster tail and filet mignon on it.

The best food for me has to be taco's  :)

I just love a good taco and my sister makes the best taco casserole ever at least to me  ;)  All you need is kidney beans, pizza sauce, beef, tortilla chips and the stuff that goes in taco's then your set. Her dessert isn't bad either she can out do Dairy Queen on their Ice cream cakes any day  :D

I think Sharon had got a dougnut problem ::) I am rather parshal myself to Maryland choc chip cookies (yup thats what they call themselves)

For all you Aussies out there I have some questions.  My daughter got a book called Possum Magic from my sister-in-law Catherine that used to live in Sydney.  Please tell me what these are:
Anzac biscuits, Mornay and minties, Pavlova, Lamington?  Everytime I talk to Catherine I forget to ask her about this stuff.  ::)

I've had Anzac biscuits over here. They are very nice lumpy and nice ;D

hmmmmm you'll have to excuse the young Jedi's food fixation - he appears to be doing a very good job at eating bacon & waffles EVERY morning during his morning break at school!! ::)

I happen to know that this young Jedi is VERY partial to Greggs Caramel shortcakes and Sainsbury's Jam doughnuts!! ;D
I'm quite partial to them too ... so you can imagine the scuffles at our house can't you!?  :P :rofl:
He also hogs the Milk Chocolate Digestives but has his Dad for competition on eating those .... ::)

The marylands they have made a lower fat version but of course its not as good ::)

Anzac biscuits are golden brown biscuits made out of rolled oats, brown sugar, butter and golden syrup (yum!), mornay is a savoury sauce, minties are chewy mint flavoured lollies/candy, pavlova is a meringue cake base topped with cream and fruit, lamingtons are soft sponge cakes (usually square shaped) with a thin coat of chocolate and coconut.

Do you usually make these for Anzac day or is it for any old time of the year?

They are for any time of the year. The best ones are crunchy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. I'll chuck a packet in for you with my next UK Tim Tam shipment :D

It was one of my favourites as well when I was younger - its an Aussie classic. I remember when we had a Possum Magic party in Year 1 after our teacher read the book to us and we had all the foods that were featured in the story :D

What he didn't tell you, was he could barely move afterwards because he'd eaten so much!! ::) :rofl: :rofl:

To mark Australia Day (and peoples curiosity about Aussie food), here is a Lamington recipe:
The easy way

Ingredients

1 slab sponge cake (one day old)
4 cups icing sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk
2 - 3 cups desiccated coconut
To make the icing

Cool the cake for at least half an hour in the Fridge or Freezer, then cut into squares or fingers
Combine the Sugar and Cocoa in a large bowl
Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter is melted.
Add to the sugar/cocoa mixture and mix to a fluid yet not runny consistency

To put it all together

Make a production line of Sponge Fingers, Chocolate Icing mixture in a bowl, coconut in a shallow container or plate, and a cooling rack with paper underneath.
Using a fork dip the sponge fingers into the icing, roll it in the coconut covering it well, and then place on to the rack to dry.
Once they have dried, place in an airtight container and leave to "mature" for at least a few hours, preferably overnight, before eating.

To make the sponge cake if you really want to

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup castor sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups self rising flour
1/2 cup milk
Method

Grease and Line a Lamington Tin (11 x 8 x 1.5 inches)
Cream the Butter, Castor Sugar and Vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time beating together as you go.
Fold in the Flour and Milk, alternating as you go.
Pour the batter into the prepared tin, spread evenly, and bake in a Moderate Oven (375f/190c) for 30-40 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to stand for a few minutes before turning out on to a cooling rack.
Leave to cool then store in the Fridge overnight.
