Does anyone play Kingdom of Hearts for the PS2?
I can't get off the blasted island and I have the "instruction" book. Any ideas or advice?

A friend of mine (who has obviously forgotten his forum password or something) has suggested you might like to try the Gummi Ship. Or something. Let us know if that helps...

Are you on the beginning island?  Have you done all the missions there?  It has been ages since I played the game, but it is my FAVORITE PS2 game ever!!!!  In fact, it is the game that got me addicted to video games.  Rented it, and now own 50-100 games.

Anyway, there is a door, I believe in a cave that you can go through once you did everything.  If you are where I think you are, this should help:

Every time you beat Riku you get a Pretty Stone which can be sold later
on for 30 munny, so having a lot of these may come in handy.  Once
you’ve had your fun with Riku racing talk to Kairi, who’s standing on
the raft.  She’ll ask you to gather supplies for the journey.  She
wants a Seagull Egg, 3 Mushrooms, 2 Coconuts, 3 Fish, and Drinking
Water, but not from the ocean.  As before she’ll offer you little or
big clues if you ask for them.

Here’s the location of all the items:

Mushroom #1- Push aside the boulder to the left of the raft and walk
into the small cave.  There’s a Mushroom in there.
Coconuts #1 and #2- To the right of the raft there are several coconut
trees.  Two of them in the back will drop usable coconuts if you hit
them (they’ll be a brighter colour and bigger then the regular
coconuts).
Mushroom #2- Head off to where the tower suspending a string is now
(the larger of the two).  In the vegetation to the side of it will be a
Mushroom.
Fish #1, #2, and #3- On the other side of the island you can catch fish
in the water near Selphie.  Simply stand over the fish to catch them.
Drinking Water- Next, head to where Wakka is (you should be able to see
him from the ocean) and walk in the springs to get Drinking Water.
Mushroom #3- Go to the left of the springs and into the Secret Place.
Pick up the Mushroom and watch a brief FMV.
Seagull Egg- Exit the secret place and go on top of the roof near where
Wakka is.  Walk across to where there are three trees.  Climb up the
long gray tree in the center and jump onto the top of the tree with an
egg on it.

“On the island you can get yourself a protect chain. In the Cove
somewhere around the tower with the ladder there is a box if u use
first person view from the tower you should see a large hole in a piece
of stone wall. If you take the box, and throw it near the whole u can
climb up into it and get a Protect Chain.” – thanks to Jonothan Zolodom
for finding the Protect Chain ^_^

After you’ve found all the items I recommend saving the game again
before delivering the items to Kairi, who is still waiting at the raft.
Also, if you want to race Riku more or fight Tidus, Wakka, and/or
Selphie again, now’s the time to do it.  Once you’ve done all that talk
to Kairi who will give you a Hi-Potion for your efforts.  If you’ve
done everything you want to do say “Yeah, let’s go home.”

After another movie you’ll be attacked by shadows.  Don’t bother
fighting them, you can’t do anything with that sword.  Riku’s standing
on the dock, go to him.  After another short FMV you’ll get the
Keyblade.  Now you can combat the Shadows, but there is little point to
it as they don’t seem to give you much experience (HiP says that they
give you 1 exp on a fast paced game).  Head for the Secret
Place which now has a silver door as it’s entrance.  After that you’ll
be transported to a wasteland which most likely use to be your island.
Darkside is there (the first boss you faced) but he’s a little tougher
this time.

I am an avid fan of all video games, but I do happen to have a particular interest in RPGs.  How did you like this game?  Have you played any others such as zelda or final fantasy, that you could compare it to?  I'm just trying to bide my time until the next version of each of these games come out.  ladeeda....i guess i'll just spend another 70 hours on NCAA college football until then. lol
take care all

Stop right there - your life is not complete until you have bought Golden Sun for the gameboy advance... it is literally one of my favourite games EVER! And I've played a few :)

Honestly, I think, in my opinion, this is one of the BEST games there is.  I have a friend who does not play video games, and she would come to my house just to watch me play this game for hours at a time.  At the time, I rented it, but I now own it to play again whenever I want.  The second one comes out September 2005, I think.  Anyway, I played the old time Zelda's, but this is better than that in my opinion.  Also better than all the Ratchet and Clanks and Jak and Daxter's too.  Since you like FF, I hear that some of the charaters in Kingdom Hearts are FF characters (but sine I don't play FF, I am not 100% on this one).  It is just fun exploring all the Disney worlds, going in to Alison and Wodnerland, being able to fly in Neverland (Peter Pan), turning in to a mermaid to swim in the Little Mermaid, going in to the whale in Pinnochio. And so many more.  Even my husband enjoyed this one and is anxious for the second one to release.

Can you tell I loved this game?  Just don't hate me if you go get it and don't like it.  I think you will though.

As far as my fav. game, I'd have to admit I am a sucker for anything Mariokart.  I don't know why.  but as for the PS2, I was intrigued with the KOH game and started to lose interest when I couldn't get off the blasted island.  I've accomplished everything except the "race" with the blonde guy.  Maybe that is what I have to do next?  I also think I have to fight him or something to learn "skills".
I went in the cave once and saw a scary guy who had come out of the door but I couldn't go through it.

I didn't want to do this in fear that you would use this guide through the entire game, so try to find what you need and get rid of the site, or hold on to it until you get stuck again.  Here is a walkthru:

ohh, how technical!  I like it.  thanks for the help.  Back to my video game obsession after a brief spell of swearing off of it.  I have an original nintendo, super nintendo, nintendo 64, original gameboy, advanced gameboy, original PS, and PS2.  Yikes!  who has the time or money?!  I need to get a life!
Granted, I got my first nintendo when I was 10 or 11.

Helppppppppp

I am off the island and have seen what Donald and Goofy have to say.  I am now running between the three sectors.  Just two questions, well for now that is  ;)

1.  In the shop with the bloke who wants to help there is a ladder leading to the upper floors where I can make crystals - should I be able to reach this yet?

2.  At the moment I am just nipping into sector two, fighting a few baddies then running back to sector one.  Should I be looking for Donald now?  If the answer is yes , is he in sector three?

BTW thanks for the recommendation - this is a great game  ;D

I hope this helps you ... By the way, I remember the feeling when I got off the island, too. I was very happy, indeed.

1.  In the shop with the bloke who wants to help there is a ladder leading to the upper floors where I can make crystals - should I be able to reach this yet?

You won't be able to reach the ladder, quite yet. This is one of those things that you'll have to return to Traverse Town and do later ...

2.  At the moment I am just nipping into sector two, fighting a few baddies then running back to sector one.  Should I be looking for Donald now?  If the answer is yes , is he in sector three?

At this point, I'm sure you saw some scenes of Donald and Goofy, right? You can keep fighting the baddies to get Sora to a higher level, or you could search for Donald and Goofy. In that case, you want to go to Sector Three ;)

BTW thanks for the recommendation - this is a great game  ;D

It's nice to hear someone else enjoying it. I honestly couldn't tell you how many hours I wasted away playing it.

Well I have been to Wonderland - you didn't warn me about the flying  :o  Horrid nightmares about getting Buckbeak through those rotten rings came flooding back to me but I got through OK ;)  Alice has done a bunk so I thought I would head back to Traverse Town.

I am useless at using any of the magic or special abilities - I just hack away with my key and hope for the best  ;D  I am going to try another area tonight but they all have two ** ie meaner enemies.  Wish me luck  :o=

: Re: Kingdom of Hearts/PS2
: rns91294 February 23, 2006, 08:13:56 AM
Good luck!  Yes, this was the first PS2 game I played myself.  I loved it because it was easy to hit all sorts of buttons and still do okay.  Since then, I have moved up to much more difficult aiming.  I am currently playing Gun, but Kingdom Hearts started this terrible addiction I have to video games.  I have played and beat so many games myself that I never thought I could do...although, I still leave the scary games to my husband, like Fatal Frame, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc....If something scary happens, I usually just do something that ends up getting me killed....but I love to watch others play those games. Oh Sharon, I hope you enjoy Kingdom Hearts as much as I did ;D

: Re: Kingdom of Hearts/PS2
: Sharon February 25, 2006, 01:38:06 AM
Latest update.  I have swung through the trees with Tarzan.  Well to be accurate I fell from the trees with Tarzan  ;)  I then gave up and tried the Hercules bit which had less **** but was even harder  :o   I think I might need to fight a bit more and raise my hit points.  But everyone keeps telling me to go and see the bloke in the underground cavern but it is still blocked off  >:()  Oh well I am still loving it  ;D

: Re: Kingdom of Hearts/PS2
: rns91294 March 03, 2006, 06:41:09 AM
Have you kept playing?  Aren't the other worlds great!  Don't worry, there are some difficult bits, but you can get through them.  If I did, anyone can.  I had the worst coordination for video games when I played this (I must have made my husband dizzy at times ::))  But I got the hang of it and now I am unstopable :P

And the second one comes out this month!

: Re: Kingdom of Hearts/PS2
: Sharon March 04, 2006, 02:02:13 AM
The second one will be a far distance treat the speed I am playing this one, but it is not for lack of hours played   I was quite horrified when I noticed it keeps a running tally and I have now played this game for 31 hours  :o  But I am still loving it  ;D

I was swallowed by the whale on Wednesday (don't get to say that very often  ;) ) but got bored running around the chambers so I jumped in my Gummy Ship and went back to Traverse Town.  I am seriously struggling on finding the Pooh pages and the Trinity marks but I have set lots of little puppies free - how cute is that to see them all running around the house  :-*

I have sort of decided to just wander around all the bits I have done for a few more days building up my HP.  I am currently a level 31 but for some unknown reason Goofy is a level 39  :o  The trouble is I soften up the targets and he nips in for the kill  >:()

Just one question this time - how good was you at building Gummy Ships?  I am absolutely useless!  My first two attempts had guns that just sort of floated in front and had very little shielding.  Is it essential that I build my own ship?

I couldn't make sense of that thing :-\, but my husband seemed to understand it and built up my ship ::). It helps you a bit in between worlds.

As for your HP, I seem to remember one of my characters having more than me too. Its just been so long since I played.

I know I've played the game for a long, long, too (in the beginner version mode). I've been playing with the Expert version mode, but I haven't completed it. It's pretty much the same, though :-\

I was swallowed by the whale on Wednesday

LOL, You were swallowed by a whale on Wednesday, so what's next ;) I wasn't the biggest fan of this world. When I left, it was a pain to find him again. I had to go back and get trinities and boxes that I couldn't reach at the time.

I am seriously struggling on finding the Pooh pages and the Trinity marks but I have set lots of little puppies free - how cute is that to see them all running around the house  :-*

You should go back and free all the puppies. It's really worth it. Also, make sure that you "lock" all of the worlds and finish the Hades Cup at the Coleseum. Doing those will onlock the secret movie at the end. It was made before Kingdom Hearts II and Chain of Memories (for GBA). It was a short preview if the series would continue.

I didn't really like building Gummy Ships. On my first game, I did minimal to my ship. I just added a Shield Gummy to the default ship ... I forget it's name :-\ This time around, I went through changing each Gummy to make it stronger. It changes the color, but it's a little better.

To me, only minor tweeks to the ship you are currently using it essential in finishing the game. The last couple flights to worlds get harder and longer. After I visited the world, I just warp to it. It takes less time ;)

Good luck and keep us updated ;D

Right, I have got rid of a whole host of baddies and think I am on the final stretch but I want to build up my strength before I got to the final world.  Just a couple of question please:

Halloween Town - is there anything worth doing here?  I have killed the giant potato sack (or whatever he was) and Jack keeps asking me if I want to go for a walk with him, which I do (just to be polite  ;) ) but I don't find anything  :(

The Gadget Shop - the clock is stuck at 6.54.  Is this significant?

In the lastest PS 2 magazine there is a little cheat book.  Now when I have used coded cheats on the PC they have stayed there for good ie even when I don't need the cheat anymore I can't get rid of it.  Is this the same on PS2?  I don't want to load on a cheat that I can't get rid of.  How sad is this - I need help to cheat on my cheats

Thank you  ;D

Besides killing Oogie Boogie (a potato sack filled with bugs), I can't think of anything too important to do there. You'll have the basic trinities and puppies and what not, though. If you sealed the keyhole, you should be all set with Halloween Town ;)

The Gadget Shop - the clock is stuck at 6.54.  Is this significant?

There's something that you have to do with this. It involves getting some boxes filled with something that I can't remember ??? If I can think of it, I'll get back to you!

I've never used the cheats so I can't help you with this one. I think a more experienced gamer could help you with this one ... this is the only game that I played continually :-[

Thank you  ;D

Your welcome ;) I hope I was able to help :D

I finished it  ;D :'(  As you can see I am not sure whether to laugh or cry.  Thank you to everyone who helped me lock the final door.  I did have one moment of panic when I saw how long I had been playing then I remembered I just left the game running when I went to cook dinner etc  (well that's my excuse  ;) ).

I managed to complete all the quests necessary to get a peak of KH2 and it looks really good, if a little brief.  Well next game will be Tomb Raider  ;D  I have played the demo of the first section and got completely stuck  but it is so good and definitely one to get.
