: Where is my card? : rns91294 January 25, 2005, 10:45:25 PM Okay, I probably should have posted this in the general discussion thread, but here it goes anyway.
In the bginning of January, I bought a Marauders Map on eBay from nonsportscards (aka elvensongstar). Anyway, he shipped it from the UK, to me in the US (New Jersey) on January 7. It was sent airmail, internationally signed for. I still have not received it. I am a wreck since I really want this card. The tracking number at Royal Mail says it was handed over to the overseas carrier, but you can not teack it in the US until it has been attempted to be delivered (since I have to sign for it). As of yet, that hasn't happened. How often does mail get lost? Has anyone else experienced delays at this time of year (not including right before the holidays). Anyone have any advice for me? Thanks for all your help. : Re:Where is my card? : Roz January 25, 2005, 10:59:38 PM No no, I think it should be here. General is totally non-card related stuff... after all this *is*Mark's cartoon website too ;) so card chat should try to keep in card stuff areas so as not to provoke anger in our Bovine King. I suppose if you fancied having it moved it ought to go in "ebay quibbles problems and the like" section....
Last time your card called home (Yak central) it was on a plane to the USA and spent the whole time moaning about call charge costs ;) Seriously - it is late, we will all agree with you there, but we have had EXTREMELY LATE mail in the past... for example Mark's friend in America (well actually mine too but the parcel was for him) sent some things to him in the last few days of Novemember/early December, and then heard nothing... NOTHING until it turned up on the doorstep in mid February the following year. He never got an explanation of what went on or anything, by that time I think he practically kissed the box as he'd been so worried. Further to that we have had (2) things RETURNED to the UK with no good reason (the address was clear and correct etc.), and no explanation. Lastly - things do get lost, it's true. But it really is VERY rare. It's a REAL pain that there is no way to send things from the UK to the US and then track them once they have landed on American shores - not through the post office anyway. There are companies like DHL etc but they charge you £46 (about $85) to post something in a cardboard envelope very similar to the US "Global Priority" envelopes which cost 10% of the price.... and we can't afford to send cards like that. The obvious questions are - have you been in touch with the seller? What do they say? How long is it since it landed on your shores? Where does post come into the USA, and how far are you from it? : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 25, 2005, 11:15:17 PM I have been in touch with the seller, as he provided me the tracking number. He has been looking for it just like me. The post office gave me a form to fill out to help locate it, but I sent it to the seller, as it is questions only he would be able to answer. Basically, the seller has been nothing but helpful and friendly thru this whole thing so far.
I think the US needs a better system for this kind of thing. Since there is a tracking number on the package, they should be able to scan it when it gets here so we can keep track of it as well. I do not know when it landed on my shores. If you put the tracking number in the Royal Mail site, it just says it was handed over to the overseas carrier, but there is no date, so I dop not know when this happens. The mail comes in to New York, which is only 2 hours away from me, not far at all. I am worried because months ago, I sent a package to you, Roz, and you never received it. Luckily it was something monor that i can resend, but this card is one of a kid and I really would like, not to mention I paid a good amount for it in my opinion. Another question those of you in the UK could answer for me. How ,long do you need to wait before claiming the insurance of a lost item? IN the US, it is 30 days. Let me see if I am adding correctly. It was send on Jan 7 (Friday). So lets say it started to ship in the 8th. If I count the 8th and all the days in between (except Sunday since there is no mail on Sunday, and Monday the 17th there was no mail for a holiday) then I get a total of 14 actual post office work days. If I subtract Saturdays from that, it has only been 11 days, but if I count all days including sundays and the holidy, it has been 18 days. Which of these numbers should I go by? Also, now that I counted it out, it doesn't seem THAT long. It just is to me, you know? I just appreciate everyone on this forum who is able to make me feel a little better. Hearing of other long delivery problems makes me feel better. Anyone else have anything to share? And other than the item I sent to Roz that didn't show up, is there anyone else who had experience with lost mail? Thanks!! : Re:Where is my card? : mpcltd January 25, 2005, 11:18:07 PM Far too soon to be panicking!!
They are still clearing Christmas post I bet ;D ;D : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 25, 2005, 11:29:10 PM Wow, nice to hear from you MPC!!! I appreciate your input. You are probably right, in fact the thought crossed my mind. Prior to the hliday, it took 3 weeks for something to come from the UK and Australia to me. Maybe they are still behind with some things, although, if it was given to the overseas carrier, there is no excuse for the US post office. They should get it to me quickly, but we have had some bad weather and possible terrerist threats which would cause them to inspect packages very carefully. I know I shouldn't panic. I just want this card so much that I feel it it taking longer than it probably is.
: Re:Where is my card? : Boggle January 26, 2005, 03:58:41 AM I agree with MPC, give it a bit longer to turn up. I'm still waiting for my Spike P-i to turn up, and thats been a few weeks now. The seller is a nice guy, you shouldn't have any problems there. :)
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 26, 2005, 04:16:23 AM Where is your card coming from?
Also, the seller of my Map is probably one of the nicest I have delt with. He is very responsive and seems concerned that I have not yet received the card. I would recommend him to everyone if you are buying cards. : Re:Where is my card? : Boggle January 26, 2005, 04:56:24 AM Mine's doing the reverse of yours, its coming from the US to the UK! ;D He is a great seller, very friendly and helpful! He's based not far from me on the coast.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak January 26, 2005, 06:36:54 PM I know how you feel rns... I have a FOTR SB arriving for me as well from the UK - its been 2 weeks and counting since the seller said she had sent it. I'm worried because a week earlier, I had bought a FOTR Galadriel also from the UK and it arrived a week later in Australia. Its strange that this one is taking this long ???
: Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 26, 2005, 07:57:41 PM I sent a small, US Global Priority Mail envelope to Australia on January 11. The post office states that it takes 4-6 days for delivery, but the buyer didn't receive it until January 24. She was getting nervous, because she had received other items from the US she'd won both before and after my auction. I was nervous, too. She didn't purchase insurance and I wasn't sure how to handle a lost package.
I'm waiting for three packages from the UK. Who knows when they'll arrive? The mail has been slow, we had a blizzard over the weekend that closed the airport, and we're getting another sizable snowstorm right now. I figure I'll start getting mail again in March! :) : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak January 26, 2005, 08:07:21 PM Noooooooo.... don't say that! :o I'm moving next week and I hope it arrives before then as it will be a pain coming back to my old place to keep checking whether it arrives! :-[
: Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 26, 2005, 08:36:26 PM My UK packages aren't late yet. I think the first one was mailed a week ago Monday. Still, it's hard waiting for something you really want!
I'm sure you'll get your card before you move. : Re:Where is my card? : Roz January 26, 2005, 08:44:54 PM I hate to be the voice of doom as I am sure Cindy is right, but Artbox sent my Pam Ferris auto on the 30th December and I haven't had that yet :-[
*Roz storms off in a huff* : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 26, 2005, 09:16:07 PM Makes me feel better that so many people are experiencing delays in the mail. Can we all check back with this thread to let everyone know when the items we are awaiting finally arrive?
So let's see. I am waiting for something from the UK to the US. Boggle is waiting for something from the US to the UK Ferdinand is waiting for something from the UK to Australia. kbmum is waiting on some packages from the UK to the US. This indeed makes me have hope that my card will still arrive at some point in time. Although, it will be 3 weeks on Saturday, less if you take away the days there is no mail. Thank you everyone!!! : Re:Where is my card? : Tea_and_Fruit January 27, 2005, 12:01:11 AM to represent Germany in this waiting list ...
I am waiting for something from the US to Germany. I wait now 12 days. (Normaly 8-21 days, but i wait ;D ) : Re:Where is my card? : Tower January 27, 2005, 12:13:06 AM I've bought two items from the same US-seller. The first needed 17 days. The second a few weeks later only 4 days. Who knows why ... 8)
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 01:21:36 AM Tower, from the same seller as me? My seller is in the UK. Anyway, I noticed that. I can order something from the UK and get it in 3 days. How, I have no idea, but then there is this.
Now, when you say 17 days, are you counting Saturday? Sunday? Or just Mon-Fri? : Re:Where is my card? : Tower January 27, 2005, 03:21:06 AM Aah, no, i should have written it clearer. :-\
I only meant, both items have been from the same seller. But not from your seller. So there can be big differences no one can really explain. : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 27, 2005, 04:07:28 AM Don't forget Customs and Excise! :o
Items can be held up for weeks there if they have a big volume of post to sift through. (Sorry to be so doom-and-gloomish) If it's any crumb of comfort, I paid for an item in mid-November from a seller in the US and still haven't received it! :'( As my 30-day PayPal refund limit has long since passed I've no way of recouping my money either. He can't even say with 100% certainty that he sent it Airmail either! :-[ The only glimmer of hope I have is that he sent it Surface Mail which can take up to three months .... *is NOT happy* I've also got another item I've paid for on Jan 5th (again in the US, but a different seller) and I wrote to them at the weekend telling them that if I don't receive it within seven days then I will be applying for a refund through PayPal. They've not even bothered to reply either :-[ If I neg this seller there's every chance they will leave a retaliatory neg in return, which just isn't fair especially when I've paid promptly for the auction and have tried several times to contact them. Both these auctions are for items I particularly wanted which makes it worse. What more can you do .... : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 04:19:40 AM Tower - Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense.
Don't forget Customs and Excise! :o Items can be held up for weeks there if they have a big volume of post to sift through. (Sorry to be so doom-and-gloomish) I was also reminded that security is pretty high in new York now which could cause custom back ups as well. If it's any crumb of comfort, I paid for an item in mid-November from a seller in the US and still haven't received it! :'( Yes, that does make me feel a little better, but sad for you at the same time. I know what you mean by wanting the item, as I really want mine too. Makes it that much harder. Mine was sent insured (signed for). How long must you wait in the UK before filing with the post office for your refund of a lost insured item? If mine does not come, should I go through PayPal or the seller. PayPal refunds you all but $25 and shipping, right? Since it was insured, i shoud be able to get a refund from the seller, but I obviously want to at least wait until it is time to file for a lost item. In the US it is 30 days. Is it the same there? I've also got another item I've paid for on Jan 5th (again in the US, but a different seller) and I wrote to them at the weekend telling them that if I don't receive it within seven days then I will be applying for a refund through PayPal. Mine was sent on january 7, so a very similar timeframe. I think mail must be slow. How could so many of us have problems with getting our items at one time? if it was just me, I would think it was lost, but now I truly think mail is extremely delayed or something isn't right. If I neg this seller there's every chance they will leave a retaliatory neg in return, which just isn't fair especially when I've paid promptly for the auction and have tried several times to contact them. Go to the eBay problem section of this forum. There is a thread in there about this. I too mentioned how unfair I think it is because as a buyer, if you pay right away, that should be what your feedbac is based on, not what kind of feedback you leave the seller. If I dont get my item, and the seller refunds me, he would definitely still get a positive. After all, so far, he has been very kind. : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 27, 2005, 04:50:37 AM As far as I know it's 30 days with the Post Office here too ... if anyone would like to correct me on this, then please do as I haven't had to do this myself.
As for insured shipping ... I got charged $8.00 so I've no idea. I asked him how much it would cost and that's the sum he quoted. If you want to try for a refund through PayPal then you can't mess about. I was kicking myself when I realised the time limit had passed by a few days with the first transaction, so I was determined it wasn't going to happen again. I've just emailed the second seller again to see if it has any effect or not and I'll let you know if gets off his arse to bother replying or not! I thought I'd better start prodding him now ~ I have about a week left before my PayPal refund time limit runs out! ;) I find it very annoying that the feedback I've worked hard to get and maintain can be ruined by a total jackass for a transaction which they didn't follow through with. The neg I did receive was from a seller in the UK who waaaaay overcharged on his postage costs and then 'forgot' to use the insured shipping I'd paid for! He said he'd refund me some of it, but nothing ever arrived and his emails were rude and abrupt ~ he deserved a neg even though I left him a neutral, so you can imagine how that stung when I found out he'd been so petty. I left him some well-chosen follow-up remarks and never bought from him again. I keep hoping my postie will bring me these two items soon! :-[ : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 27, 2005, 06:06:03 AM Was the $8 for insurance alone, in addition to shipping?
I ask because we have Global Priority Mail, which costs a flat rate of $5 for the small envelope and $8 for the large. Several cards, well packed, will fit in the small. I don't know how much the insurance would have been, but $8 was way overpriced for surface mail. Did you pay for either transaction with a credit card through PayPal? If so, you can talk to the credit card company about reversing the charges. : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 27, 2005, 07:03:34 AM No the $8.00 was for the shipping costs alone.
I've checked the PayPal invoice and nothing is mentioned about insurance and to be honest, it's rarely offered for international transactions because of the cost and the customs duties we have to pay at this end. The Global Priority mailers you have are a wonderful idea and I've often thought it's a pity we don't have something so simple, yet so good ... over here. Insured shipping would've been around $13-15 at a guess, add to that the fact that the item would have it's insured value on the customs sticker, and then ... there's a very good chance it would get stopped on arrival and duty slapped on it. Like I say, it's not often insured shipping is offered for items sent abroad from the US and it's very much a matter of judgement whether you take it when it's offered or not. Well, my barrage of emails seem to be having an effect on the second seller (and diddly squat on the first one). Here's what #2's just sent me ... I am sorry I am trying to find the information for the shipment. Please be patient and I will provide all the information tomorrow, perhaps even tracking numbers if applicable. It was not in my filing system but I can track it through my credit card if worse comes to worse, but I will know at the latest by 3:00PM EST(-6 GMT). I want to know when he sent it to me and by what means ... which I don't think is being unreasonable. The same is true for seller number one and I've opened one of those new dispute console dialogues on eBay to try and get it resolved with him. He's not doing much on eBay at present (bidding or buying from what I can see), so it could be that he's either away or has nothing to sell. In that case, it could be ages before he picks up his emails! :-\ Seller #2 has been busy bidding and buying stuff on eBay so he's got absolutely no excuse for ignoring me! ;) I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that neither of them has sent their items by surface mail as I don't want to lose more money because I've waited for them to arrive and have passed the PayPal time limit to claim the refund. Ermmm as for the payment ... well it's the Visa part of my cheque guarantee card from my bank, not a credit card on it's own, so I doubt I'll have much joy trying to get it reversed. I only want to do that as a last resort because I know I'll get negged if I do. :-[ So basically, I'm in a bit of a 'no win' situation here aren't I? I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't ... argh!! I suppose it wouldn't harm to speak to someone at the bank about it first and find out if I can reverse it or not, before actually doing it. I'll keep you posted ;) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 09:10:05 PM Just an update. My item was still not received. I know I shouldn't panic and all, but I am starting to loose all hope.
: Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 27, 2005, 09:49:27 PM The next time you buy from someone in the US, you might want to request global priority. My post office told me that by using it, I don't have to attach any customs declarations to the envelope.
However, you can't get insurance on a letter/package that is sent letter post. It has to be sent parcel post (airmail or economy), which is much more expensive ($16 versus $5). If someone were buying a very expensive card, it would make sense to pay the extra shipping and be able to get insurance. It probably isn't worth it if you win a $50 card. I know a lot of people outside the US get irritated when a seller won't ship outside of the US, but you can see why -- it's a bit complicated. Even the people at my post office get confused about the available shipping methods, customs forms and insurance, and often I've had to wait while they consult reference materials to get it right. : Re:Where is my card? : Roz January 27, 2005, 10:01:12 PM Well... normal mail is pretty easy - stick on a green customs form, (it's the same form the world over.... very simple and easy), add an air mail sticker and slap on a $2 stamp thingummy.
I send things abroad the whole time and rarely experience any problems, most post offices in the UK are now totally touchscreen computerised so if you request a service the server hasn't used before they are just a few screen clicks away from finding it (meanwhile I stand there wondering why I know more about postal services than post office workers do). Actually global priority is pretty natty if you ask me for $5 or $9 you can stick anything in it within reason... books, papers, cards - a veritable stash of things and all for a reasonable fixed price. Insured is ok but I find the USPS's insured services are not only a tad complicated to initiate but are also very slow, usually taking well over 2 weeks in most instances, oddly enough UK to US insured seems to take less time than normal mail. And since both postal services operating the service are the same it makes no sense! : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 10:29:55 PM oddly enough UK to US insured seems to take less time than normal mail. And since both postal services operating the service are the same it makes no sense! Unless you are me who paid for airmail internationally signed for and it has been three weeks!! I am waiting for Nienna to get the card that was sent to her on January 5 (2 days before mine). If she writes in and says she got hers, I will be expecting mine ;) And I know I said this before, but they need to come up with a better tracking system. If you have something sent from the Uk to the US, with a tracking number, you can track it up to the point where it was handed over to the overseas carrier. Yet, the Royal Mail site doesn't tell you what date that occurs on. Then, you can not track it in the US until it is delivered or attempted to be delivered. Seriously now, if it has a tracking number on it, why can't they scan it when it gets in the US so you can track it from there. There has to be a way for them to do this. You would think anyway. : Re:Where is my card? : Roz January 27, 2005, 10:34:24 PM Exceptions prove rules :)
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 10:40:06 PM I am sure most of us here have seen the movie castaway with Tom Hanks, right? Has anyone heard of any mail plains crashing lately ;)
And I just checked my sellers feedback (which is 100%), but someone bought a fizzing wizbees card on January 8. They left feeback on Jan 21 that said "fast international shipping". So theirs was sent after mine and already arrived. I hope that it means it went to a different place in the US. That worries me a bit more. : Re:Where is my card? : Tea_and_Fruit January 27, 2005, 11:26:01 PM As Info (my experience in shipping cards around the world)
To ship 1 card in a padded envelope from germany to UK or within EU via Airmail i need only a stamp for 0.95€ (worldwide 2€). Recorded delivery Airmail (insured up to 25€) is around 3€ (EU) and 5€ (worldwide) Then for every 100€ more insurance within EU 1€ The Card need normaly 3-7 days (to 95% no matter if UK (EU) or worldwide) Everytime i buy something in the USA or UK i wonder why it takes so long for the cards to reach germany. (10-21 days) The distance is the same ;D : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 11:33:40 PM 21 days from the UK to Germany? I wonder why some things take so long? This is very frustrating. Thank goodness I have all of you to talk to about this.
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 27, 2005, 11:35:32 PM Nothing yet I'm afraid! ::)
That's interesting about the Global Priority as I've received numerous $9 packets in the past and they've all have customs stickers on them. As for using tracking numbers ~ well I asked my excellent postman about it some time ago and he told me that they did used to use the tracking number for items received from abroad but stopped doing it. He couldn't tell me why either, only that they don't do it any longer. Obviously I'm not taking about FedEx here which I believe still does use the tracking, but I agree .... what's the point of people paying extra for the service if it's not being used? I sent a signed-for packet over to the US last year and found it most frustrating that I could only track it as far as reaching the carrier and no further ~ the whole point of the excercise was so that I knew[ it had been delivered as it had been signed for! So stupid really and then the PO wonders why people moan about the fat profits they make ... *grrr!* Surely it's time to simplify the services they offer, so that everyone can understand it? Hee Hee Tower .... perhaps the air is flowing the 'wrong way' and the planes coming over here from the US are flying into a head wind? :P Sorry ... being a bit facetious there ... I expect the tightening up of securty has had an impact on items leaving the US too ... *sighs* What I think has happened with my two items is that seller #1 has sent it by surface mail and seller #2 dragged his heels for a week or so sending it to me. I've not heard anything more from seller #2, so I might start prodding him again till I get a proper response! ;) *Watch this space* ;D Oh ... and Tom Hanks had better not have run off with either of my items either ... did you SEE what he did with some of those parcels?! :o : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 27, 2005, 11:41:23 PM I expect the tightening up of securty has had an impact on items leaving the US too ... *sighs* And coming in to the US, especially New York which is where my package would have gone. I nelieve mine was sent airmail, so maybe I really should have it by now. Maybe it really is lost :'( How can they do that? Lose mail? My goodness, they do indeed get paid enough. They should be more careful. I really want to cry over all of this :'( : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 12:02:30 AM OH MY GOD!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!! I just entered the tracking number at usps.com and this it what it said:
Your item was processed and left our BELLMAWR, NJ facility on January 27, 2005. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D That is the town with our main post office hub, right down the street from where I work!!! It's happening!!!! I can't believe it!!!! Sad thing is, by the time i get out of work, the post office closed for the day. And it still has to go from Bellmawr to my town, so it might be attempted to be delivered tomorrow. Can you all believe it!! I am so thrilled. Off to email the seller to tell him!!!!! : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 28, 2005, 12:03:18 AM That's interesting about the Global Priority as I've received numerous $9 packets in the past and they've all have customs stickers on them. I don't have any of the larger envelopes at home, but I do have the smaller one. It says on the package: If your mailpiece weighs 16 ounces or more or may be dutiable, affix the appropriate customs declarations forms. I know the clerk at the post office told me the flat rate envelope didn't need a customs form. I sent a package to Australia without one. How would I know what's dutiable? : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 12:14:55 AM Nienna, now it is your turn to get your cards. I have faith now that you are going to get them too!!!!
: Re:Where is my card? : Tower January 28, 2005, 12:28:50 AM Oh, that's very good news. Congrats !!! :)
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 01:12:14 AM And now that I feel releived, I am posting a picture from the eBay auction of my card. Don't know if it would be considered a variant with the nice "used" look it has.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/rns91294/48_1_b1.jpg) : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 03:27:13 AM Awwwwww thanks!
That's a lovely card and I can quite understand why you've been so worried. *Fingers crossed* you get it tomorrow or Saturday morning at the very latest. Perhaps us wingeing about it has helped it on it's way? Who knows ..... If/when I get mine then I'll post a piccy for you. One of them is relatively boring but the other isn't! ;) : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 28, 2005, 03:29:17 AM What's the "non-boring" card?
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 03:33:16 AM I am curious as well. What is it you are waiting for Nienna?
If mine came, I know yours are coming to. But if they were sent Surface mail, and mine was sent air, I hate to think how long you might wait. Now you understand why i was worried. Lately, I have not seen many nice ones up on eBay that interest me anyway. I wanted this card and hated the thought of having to start bidding all over again. : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 03:38:23 AM OOOooooooo the very latest from seller #2 ....
i emailed you 2 days ago in response to your first email. i told you, i normally ship out the day you pay, but you waited a few days to pay, and i had to go to flint for work to fill in for someone. This is my fault you had to wait the extra 2 weeks, im very sorry for your wait, but i had to go. ive sent out the card today, you normally dont have to wait 2 weeks to get your card with me, but this was a unique situation. the card will be there by monday, possibley this saturday if the post office shipping breaks right. I hate having to wait myself, im sorry for puting you out like this. it will be there by monday. Good job he lives so far away otherwise I'd be tempted to hit him! He is a cheeky b*gger he really is ... I had to wait two days for him to contact me with the shipping costs before I could make my payment and those of you who've dealt with me on here know I pay for my items as quickly as possible. He must be raving if he thinks it will reach me by Saturday ... how the heck does he think it's going to get here that fast? Owl Post? Express Broom? Teleportation? Oh well ..... I don't like hassling people with endless emails, but in this instance I'm glad I did! ::) The card I'm waiting for is a really nice Divination Prop card. This one:~ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6143308282 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6143308282) I hope it's okay and not damaged when I get it :-\ : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 03:42:19 AM I think he was very nice about it though. At least he stated it was your fault and you shouldn't of had to wait. But i also agree that Monday might be a little too soon to expect it.
Wow, what a nice Divination Prop!!! Congrats! : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 28, 2005, 03:49:49 AM Maybe he sent it with faster shipping to make up for the wait.
I remember that divination card! Now that's one I'd consider to be a variant (but that's another thread!). : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 03:57:15 AM I thought the same thing. Maybe he paid some extra for faster shipping. He did kind of sound like he was truly sorry and wanted to get it to you as soon as he could. You will have to let us all know.
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 04:00:24 AM I don't think he liked the fact that I was prepared to get a refund through PayPal, but you're right ... he's been communicative once prodded a bit!
My gripe is he should've told me sooner there was going to be a delay in sending it. ::) I had my eye on that card as soon as it was listed and kept checking it each day to see if someone had either bid on it or bought it. I couldn't stand it any longer and caved in ::) but it looked such a lovely piece of material!! ;D Looks as though I'll need to post a proper pic of it on the 'variants' thread once I receive it. ;) The other card I'm waiting on is a LOTR Trilogy Pippin Costume Card ~ yes, the rarest and most expensive in the flippin' set! ::) I've pretty much resigned myself to never receiving this one and if it does turn up then I'll be stunned! :P OOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo ...... please please hurry up and arrive safely little cards .... ;D : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 04:09:40 AM He probably could have emaile dyou and let you know he was going away for a bit and there would be a delay. I have seen some people in their item description state that if payment is not received by such and such a date, then the item will not be able to ship until after ....... You know what I mean.
I can see how you were worried about this card. Must feel like I felt with mine, but at least you know it wasn't lost in the mail, just delayed in being sent to you. : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 04:25:07 AM Good point and I agree with you, but from what he says it sounds as though he had to go away at short notice.
Still a lame excuse though especially as most places have internet access of some form or another and all it would've taken would've been one email to let me know what was going on! ::) I've just emailed him this .. Thanks for explaining what's happened with this card, as I've been very worried about it. The reason I've been so concerned is that I paid for a card over two months ago from another US seller and have never received it, nor was I able to get a refund on my payment for this card either. Knowing this, I'm sure you can now understand why I've been so anxious at not hearing from you nor receiving the card and my biggest concern was that it had been stolen! I hate sending loads of emails and making a nuisance of myself over these eBay transactions and I do apologise if they've annoyed you. I've no idea how quickly it will arrive either, but I promise I will email you as soon as I receive it so you'll have the email waiting for you when you login to your computer ~ does that sound okay? *Fingers crossed* it arrives here safely in the early part of next week. Thanks once again. Best wishes, Jules I think that's a nicer email than he really deserves considering the grief/worry he's caused me, but I feel sure I'll be leaving him a positive feedback once the dust has settled and I have my card ;) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 04:36:25 AM It's funny how you want to be nice even if you don't think he deserves it. I always worried that if I was rude, they would damage my item or something before sending it. I know that sounds crazy, but you can never be too careful, right?
I think your email was very nice. And don't feel bad about sending a lot of emails to him. I have done it as well with sellers. I will send an email and 5 minutes later remember something else and then send another, then 10 minutes later.....and so on. I always apoligize when I end up doing that, but sometimes you have to. : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak January 28, 2005, 04:45:12 AM I agree, better safe than sorry! And yeah, I always end up sending people nice emails who don't really deserve them either!
::) : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 04:47:30 AM HAHAHAHA!!!
Yes, I know just what you mean!! I try and do all my transactions following a very basic rule ... treat others how you'd like to be treated yourself. Most of the time it's easy to follow, but there will always be the ones who you'd love to kick up the backside and these people are the ones I have the most difficulty being polite with! HAHAHAHA!! You should know that us Brits hate complaining about poor service and goods ... ... well, in the 'old days' they did! ::) I view it this way ~ I've paid good money for an item and I expect to receive it in a timely manner, properly packaged and in excellent condition because that's what I've paid for! ;D God help me when I start selling on eBay, as I'm dreading it! Awkward buyers (a LOT like me) who ask divvy questions (ditto) and make a fuss over the packaging (ditto) ... you get my drift!! ::) :P : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 10:25:14 PM I hate when you ask a question, and the seller responds with an answer that either doesn't answer the question you asked, or makes no sense at all.
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 10:38:23 PM Yeah ... I've had a few of those too! ::)
Nothing has landed here yet ... still got the fingers tightly crossed though ...... Hope you've had yours delivered today! ;) : Re:Where is my card? : Anna January 28, 2005, 10:38:42 PM I hate when you ask a question, and the seller responds with an answer that either doesn't answer the question you asked, or makes no sense at all. I recently asked a seller a question about a Monster Book of Monsters variant. The picture of the card was so dark you could barely see the swatch. I had asked if he could provide a better picture of the variant, and he responded that I would be able to see it after I won it. ??? If you're going to bid a variant, you want to see what it looks like right? Anyways, I didn't bid on it so I'll never know hwat it looked like! :( : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 28, 2005, 10:48:55 PM That seller wasn't being very helpful by saying that and considering how much these 'variants' fetch I think you did the right thing by not bidding on it if you really wanted a better look before commiting to buying it.
In other words ... he just couldn't be bothered to take a better picture for you ::) and if you take it one stage further ... if he couldn't be bothered to do that then what else couldn't he be bothered doing? Wrapping it well? Charging a fair price for the shipping costs? Answering his emails? I could go on ... ;) A shame on missing out on a potentially great card though. :-\ : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 28, 2005, 11:12:40 PM I emailed someone selling a map as a BIN for 39.99 GBP, I think. It said that the card pictures is just an example. So I asked if he could scan the card that I would be buying. He wrote back and said he had 12 and that they all had something on them, none were plain. I didn't buy it because with a card like that, I want to see it first, just like the Monster book. I didn't need to see all 12, but he could have at least offered to scan some of them for me. I aloways like to see what i am getting before spending money on it, you know?
Just like the Monster book. There should have been something he could have done. You'll see it when you win it. Yeah, okay. My card did not come yesterday as I know it had to go from the one post office to mine. That means it will probably come today, but since I have to sign for it, I will get a note to pick it up at the post office. So tomorrow morning I should have it in my hands. My computer at home has free Netzero access with 10 hours free per month. I already used up my minutes, so I won't be able to tell you all about it until Monday, when i come back to work. Nienna - your cards are coming, I can feel it. : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 29, 2005, 02:46:13 AM I don't think it's unreasonable to ask to see the card you'd be winning in an auction when the seller has more that one of them.
It's a lot of money when's all said and done and unless you're lucky (or foolish) enough to have money to throw at buying them, then caution is always the best course of action. The only times I've bought something sight unseen is when it's been from a seller I've dealt with previously and built up a rapport with ~ otherwise it's too risky IMHO. It's a shame when sellers adopt that kind of attitude towards those wishing to buy their goods, because it puts them off bidding in the first instance and they tend not to bother looking at their auctions in the future either. Well, that's what I find I'm doing when I'm looking through the listings .. a sort of mental-note-to-self ... 'don't bother buying from X because'.... ::) I do hope you get that slip of paper telling you your card is waiting for collection and I'll look forward to reading you have it when you post again on Monday! I want to know exactly how well it's been packaged and what condition it's in too! ;D : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 29, 2005, 02:57:56 AM My seller has great feedback, so I am sure it is packaged well. Just wonering what it has been through these past 3 weeks :-\
As for the auctions I mentioned, I never did email the seller back to see if he would scan any of the cards for me, so I can't blame the person for not scanning them. I never asked. Also, I don't mind not seeing the item if the price is right. But when you are starting to spend a little more money than the norm, it is nice to see the item first. But then again, not everyone is like me and wants to see the item first. I am just a little picky when it comes to my personal collection is all ;) : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 29, 2005, 03:21:55 AM I received one of my cards from the UK this afternoon. The one that was mailed January 17 has not arrived, but one mailed January 21 did! Go figure. The card's a beauty, too, so I'll be posting a scan in the variant thread.
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 29, 2005, 07:38:40 AM You're absolutely right there ... it IS a beauty!!
I wandered over to take a peek at it on the other thread and it's gorgeous in it's goldness!! ;D I'd be VERY happy to have that card in my collection! ;) ~*~*~*~ Well, seller #2 has been in contact again and what he's had to say has left me speechless .... This is what he's just sent me:~ "well, i shipped it 2 day to england today. i felt bad. it cost me 40 dollars :-/ but, i dont want anyone to be mad at me. its sent via UPS store . your tracking number is *tracking number* it will be there on tuesday exactly, around 4pm. I should have mailed this out before i left, but i was dumb. I always make good on my deals,i hope this shows you my commitment to good customer service. If you buy from me in the future, rest assured i will not let it go 2 weeks before shipping. p.s. i know the card is 2 weeks past , but since i overnighted to europe, its basically there as soon as could be normally expected from america...maybe you might leave me a positive feedback in light of the steps i took, i would appericate it. thank you." I don't know what to say in reply to that email ... whether to laugh, cry or kick him for going to such an extreme, so I'm going to sleep on it and contact him in the morning. I'm going to ask him if he'd like me to send over some money towards the extra he's spent on the shipping. ::) *buries head in hands in disbelief* ... I feel terrible now ~ I know it was late coming, but sending it overnight ... to Europe .... jeez .... words fail me :-[ No smart-arse comments from you either Roz! :P : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum January 29, 2005, 09:33:45 PM Welllllll...the seller did overreact a bit! I don't know how you should handle it. Maybe send him an email now thanking him. When you receive the card Tuesday and are sure that everything's in order, then you could consider sending him some money to offset the shipping. You're certainly not obligated to do so, and it shouldn't cost you more money because he made a mistake, but if it would make you feel better then you should do it.
I think he's as worried as you about getting a negative! : Re:Where is my card? : Roz January 29, 2005, 09:35:31 PM .... jeez .... words fail me :-[ Must... not ... make fun..... so ... easy..... ARGH : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna January 29, 2005, 10:37:42 PM Roz ... someone's gotta feed you the lines! ::) :P
Well I've slept on it and I still don't know what the heck to say! I've already paid $8 for shipping and the card itself IMHO isn't exactly cheap (even if it is lovely!) ... so I'll wait and see what happens once I receive it and take it from there. I will email him to thank him for what he's done today and to let him know that I'll contact him again next week. It's very rare I give negative feedbacks, I tend more towards leaving neutrals if things haven't gone too well. I was going to leave him a positive before he went and paid that awful amount to send it to me ... and here's me thinking I was over-reacting ~ don't know who's the drama queen now!! ::) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 31, 2005, 10:59:17 PM Wow. I bet you would have left him a positive even if he sent it airmail to you. I mean, he was honest and apologetic. This is a tough call. I would feel awful about the price he paid to send it and want to pay him some more, but like kbmum said, you are not obligated to do so at all. You did pay a good amount for the card, so you can figure the shipping was already paid in the price maybe. I would thank him, tell him he didn't have to do that, but you do appreciate it and you will let him know when it arrives. Sound good?
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 January 31, 2005, 11:00:04 PM Oh, and I got my Map card on Saturday!!! It is gorgous in person!!! Well worth the wait and worry. I thank you all for helping me through the wait!!!
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 01, 2005, 02:57:22 AM Well, that's BOTH of us happy, as mine was waiting for me when I got home from work this afternoon!!
YAYAYAYAYAY!!!! ;D He sent it by UPS Express and I'm pleased to say the card was worth the wait and worry. It's a very pretty swatch (tiny gold sequins with tiny, gold and different coloured chain link stitching on pale lilac fabric background) and I'll try and scan it and post it on the variant thread for you. I don't know if I'll do a better job of it than the seller did, but I'll give it a go! Thanks for your help and advice ~ it's been much appreciated! :-* I've emailed the seller to let him know it's arrived safely and to thank him for the time, effort and expense to ensure it arrived so quickly after the initial delay, and I'm going to leave it at that. I paid enough for the card already, as well as the $8 shipping, so I reckon we'll be quits once I've left him his positive! ;) Well, that's one down and one still to go! :P : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 02, 2005, 04:12:37 AM Just emailed my seller, she was very quick to reply and sent me a tracking number but unfortunately its one of those 'informative' Royal Mail ones where they say that they have passed the item to an overseas postal service to handle - so it could be anywhere between the UK and Australia by now
GREEEEEEEEEEAAAAT! ::) I've only ever had one incident of a lost and refunded item - a ROTK binder from the UK - the seller was great, sent me a refund promptly and was generally very helpful - I left him a glowing positive FB for all his efforts :) : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 02, 2005, 04:32:43 AM *Fingers crossed* for you now FTY!! :o :)
Binders have to be one of the worst things to send through the post. I had a Scorpion King binder sent to me in a jiffy mailer and I wasn't too worried, till I noticed the envelope had been damaged as though the binder had been dragged along a hard surface and worn away. Sure enough, when I opened it the binder was damaged on the corresponding corner! :-\ The seller was lovely ... he had to get another one for me from goodness knows where as it took an age for him to receive it (probably from the US). I offered to send the damaged one back if he needed it to show to the post office so he could make a claim for damages, but he said to keep it and was happy with the pix I took of it and sent to him instead I've still got the binder .... gathering dust .... a shame too as it's rather nice! ;) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 02, 2005, 04:32:44 AM Let's see...On Jan 26, you noted it had been two weeks and counting for your card. So tomorrow will be 3 weeks. It took exactly 3 weeks for my card to arrive to me from the UK to the US. I did see it at my mail website when it was finally at my local post office, however I am not sure how they enter tracking numbers in Australia. I was told in the US that they will only scan that number when they attempt to deliver it, yet when I finally saw it, it was at the main post office near me and had not yet been attempted to be delivered.
I know that telling you it is still coming is hard for you to believe (as it was hard for me to believe when everyone told me to be patient), but after what happened with me, I strongly believe that the mail has been really slow lately and it IS coming. Funny thing is that Roz sent me something regular airmail and it got to me in about 4-5 days. Yet the registered mail took 3 weeks. Please keep us all posted on your item, and keep checking that tracking number with your local office. : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 02, 2005, 04:43:03 AM Thanks for the encouragement guys! :) As it was registered under Royal Mail in the UK, Australia Post (our postal system) cannot track it. I just have to wait for the slip of red and white paper. rns, funnily I had something sent registered (exactly the same as this) from the UK the week before and it arrived within a week! ???
I would not be so worried if I was not moving in 3 days... guess I will have to get my flatmates to keep in contact which will be annoying for both of us :P Day 1 FTY: Is it here? Flatmates: no Day 2 FTY: Has it arrived? Flatmates: no Day 3 FTY: Did you check the mail yet? Flatmates: *collective sigh* no, nothing for you Jo Day 4 FTY: Any mail for me? Flatmates: ............ ::) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 02, 2005, 04:53:33 AM Are you moving far?
And sorry for being naive, but are flatmates like roomates? So in other words, there will still be people living there to check the mail for you. Otherwise, i would do a change of address with your local post office so mail goes to your enw address. Of course, that would just delay it even more. I think it will be here by the end of the week though :D : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 02, 2005, 05:22:39 AM I think flatmates are people who share the flat with her ... as in they share the expenses between them .... have their own sleeping quarters but share the kitchen and bathing/ toiletting facilities ... well they're supposed to!
It seems daft that registered post takes soooo much longer ... you would think it ought to be quicker wouldn't you?! ::) Good luck with the move and I hope everything stays intact! :o Ohm .... ohm .... ohmmmmm...... : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 02, 2005, 05:28:45 AM LOL - yep Nienna - spot on!
Fingers crossed it has arrived in today's post - not quite time for me to check yet, but I will let you know :) I think I will start doing a bit of the meditating with you ;) *ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm* : Re:Where is my card? : Roz February 02, 2005, 05:54:31 AM Sarcastic post of the day:
Sharing Kitchen facilities is so much fun (damned flat mates... admittedly everything is clean - it's just that all their stuff is in the hugest pile in the draining area... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR). : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 02, 2005, 10:25:03 PM Any luck with the card today?
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 03, 2005, 05:40:24 AM Not a squeak :(
Admittedly, cards don't squeak, but if they did, then it hasn't :P : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 03, 2005, 06:38:52 AM LOL :P
Squeaking cards?! ... reminds of me of Monty Python! :o ;D C'mon little card .... ohmmmmmmmmmm .... : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 04, 2005, 05:03:42 AM Well, I have officially moved today, as in I have handed my keys back and no longer have access to my apartment/letterbox. And nothing was there :P
I left my flatmates my phone number asking them to LMK when it arrives. :-\ LOL - Monty Python ;D : Re:Where is my card? : DewDude February 04, 2005, 06:15:55 AM LOL - Monty Python ;D Everything I know about England I learned watching BBC programming on Public Television growing up. In England, men really like to wear dresses and police call boxes are WAAAAAAYYYYY bigger on the inside than they look from the outside. Jelly Baby anyone? Mark : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 04, 2005, 06:37:04 AM We have vicious 'Keep Left' signs too!! :o :o
And as for those Hell's Grannies ... jeez ... they are just plain EVIL! :P : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 04, 2005, 10:12:14 PM I hope your card somes today or tomorrow...This is getting to be a long time now...
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 11, 2005, 06:45:13 AM NO sign... I am going to send the seller an email asking for a refund. This is ridiculous :P
Here is the suspicious thing... they are no no longer a registered user... :'( Lets see how it goes : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 11, 2005, 06:52:41 AM They're no longer a registered user? Uh Oh, this doesn't sound good :-\
Did you pay through PayPal? Maybe you can try to get your money back. Did he get any negative feedback before he became unregistered? How was his feedback? I hope that it still shows up. Let us know how it goes. : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 11, 2005, 06:57:58 AM : Re:Where is my card? : mcgonagall February 11, 2005, 07:37:13 AM if the seller of the card doesn't reply to paypal in the 10 days then you get your money back.
I have just been through that and because the seller didn't responded to me or paypal i received a full refund but if they are no longer registered with ebay they might still have there paypal account : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 11, 2005, 07:57:50 AM Thanks mcgonagall! I'll let you all know what happens!
*Fingers crossed they don't reply* ;) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 11, 2005, 11:13:50 PM Well, their feedback looks pretty good, so I don't think they purposely did not send the item. I do think they must have sent it and maybe it got lost. Did you get insurance?
Did you try emailing them? Keep us posted. : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 12, 2005, 03:46:43 PM I received a reply from the seller saying that she would look into it, she really sounds lik she is trying to help. She also asked me to tell Paypal that the case is being taken care of... I don;t know if I should do this... if I retract it now and she can't do anything, then I am stuck up the creek without a paddle, as you might say! The fact that she is no longer a Paypal member does not help either :P
She is on holidays at the moment, but she said she would contact Royal Mail as soon as she could. : Re:Where is my card? : mcgonagall February 12, 2005, 03:54:44 PM I would email her back and say that you will leave the dispute in place due to the fact that she is no longer an ebayer user. And that as soon as you recieve the card or refund then you will let paypal know
hope this helps ( if she is genuine then she will understand ) : Re:Where is my card? : mpcltd February 12, 2005, 04:04:16 PM Whatever you do do not tell Paypal it is alright.
I would definately say that you have been scammed looking at the evidence. It would be different had she still been a member of Ebay and still actively selling but this seems like a case of signing out with a nice payout. My advice only but I wouldnt retract you Paypal complaint as you will not be able to pursue it again so again DONT DO IT!!!! : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 12, 2005, 04:10:18 PM Thanks for the advice... that is why I was so hesitant in withdrawing my claim - glad to see I was right! I'll keep on it then :D
Fingers crossed :-\ : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 17, 2005, 04:01:39 AM Well ......
The card I have waited THREE months for finally arrived this morning! :o :o :o To say I was stunned would be a massive understatement, as I'd given up hope of ever receiving it, so it was a huge shock to see it innocently waiting for me when I got back from work this afternoon! I'd also got a reply to my email I sent to the seller last week waiting for me too, so it's been a relief to write back and tell him I've got the darned thing and miraculously, the card has survived it's lengthy journey in excellent condition. The jiffy envelope was clearly marked as 'Airmail' and posted the day after I paid for it in November, so where exactly it's been in the meantime only the postal services know! :-\ I've apologised to the seller for hounding him over this card, but in the circumstances I believe it was justified and I hope he'll understand. I'd also got one of those eBay 'Items not received' disputes open on this transaction too, but I've since closed that and left a really nice response on there for him to see (if he bothers to check his emails!) ::) All in all, I'm glad it's finally done with and I have the card, so don't give up hope on getting yours sorted out FTY! ;) : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 17, 2005, 04:29:22 AM Congrats on finally getting your card!
Meanwhile its been over a month - well the 10 days I have had to wait for the Paypal buyer protection thingy is due to arrive on the 20th of Feb... 3 more days! Lucky I did not cancel the complaint as the seller asked me to - she said she would look into the post office as soon as she got home from holidays... yeah right! ::) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 17, 2005, 10:39:03 PM Nienna: Glad you got your card!!!
Ferdinand: You haven't heard from the seller yet? Yeah, good thing you kept the claim open. I still hope it will show up, but in the meantime, you need to do everything you can to get your money back. : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum February 18, 2005, 08:54:02 AM Nienna, can you post a scan of your "miracle" card? :D
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna February 19, 2005, 03:16:34 AM erm .... I suppose so, but strictly speaking it belongs on the LOTR thread!
It's not that special really ... it's the LOTR Trilogy Pippin Gondorian Tunic .... not 'pretty' like my Divination prop .... just the rarest one out of that particular set! ;) I'm just amazed it's turned up after all this time AND in very nice condition. :D : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 19, 2005, 03:48:11 AM I would still like to see it too. Should you post it in LOTR somewhere and direct us where to go?
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 21, 2005, 05:58:03 PM Stranger and stranger... I received this email from my seller today:
hi, just to let you know i have contacted Royal Mail and they are inv estigating the lost item and im claiming a refund from them regards Rebecca. And my Paypal crefund process is due to take effect tomorrow... should I just leave that to run its course and see what happens? : Re:Where is my card? : mcgonagall February 21, 2005, 09:23:57 PM If it was me I would send paypal a copy of the email you received and let them think what they want. All that matters now is that you either get the card or your money back
: Re:Where is my card? : Tea_and_Fruit February 22, 2005, 12:49:25 AM I would try to get the money back from paypal and the seller can try to get the refund from the royal mail.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 22, 2005, 03:34:27 AM Good idea - I'll try that then :)
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 February 22, 2005, 11:25:47 PM This just sucks. I want you to have the card!!!
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak February 28, 2005, 10:50:11 AM Well I got 36 pounds back from Paypal today. The remaining 15 I get back if Ebay/Paypal manages to get the money from the seller...
Better than nothing, I suppose, - but I still would have preferred my card :P : Re:Where is my card? : mcgonagall February 28, 2005, 11:23:28 AM Well i am glad to know that you got something back. Hope you get it all
: Re:Where is my card? : EmmasOneandOnly February 28, 2005, 11:39:49 AM YOU DIDNT GET ANYTHING FOR WHAT YOU PAYED FOR. THATS RUDE.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 01, 2005, 05:40:17 AM I am just glad I got some of it back... it shows that you can't even trust people with significant amounts of good feedback anymore - how sad :(
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 03, 2005, 11:17:23 PM I am now waiting on two cards I won from ztaylork. I know he sent them since he is a great guy and forum member and I see people have started to leave feedback from the cards won that day, but it has been a week since he sent them and I still don't have them. I am noticing a pattern, as it seems mail takes forever to get to me. Hmmmm, I have faith they are going to be in the mail today though. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 06, 2005, 04:04:28 PM Well - its come to an end, I got the email from Paypal yesterday and they are closing my case. In summary:
I paid 51 pounds for my FOTR Boromir and got 36 back after filing my claim. Paypal attempted to get the rest, but as the seller no longer has a Paypal account, there was not really much that they could do. Its not a huge amount of money, and it could have been a lot worse! Thanks to everyone for their advice - especially those who told me not to close the Paypal claim - I have heard nothing from the seller for weeks. Lucky you were all cautious! ::) : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 16, 2005, 08:03:20 PM I am so angry! Please look at this and tell me it is not the same card I paid for and was told was posted!
New auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=60798&item=6161859952&rd=1 My auction: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6144436727 The picture is the same, even the wording is almost exactly the same! I sent this to her just now: Hello there, Rebecca, is it not? You may not remember me, but I won this card from you a couple of months ago - you told me you had sent it... funny how it has turned up for auction again. Would you care to explain before I send a complaint to Ebay for fraud? What can I do about this? : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 16, 2005, 08:09:56 PM Contact eBay immediately. Here's the link to live help:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/n-livehelp.html Make sure you have at hand info about the seller -- name, address, email address, etc. The customer service person should be able to look up both auctions and see if it's the same person. : Re:Where is my card? : Luluhime March 16, 2005, 08:18:01 PM Looking at the date you won it, and the fact you still haven't received the card, then I would go about getting your money back. If the seller doesn't contact you and you paid via paypal, I would go here:
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_complaint-view (https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_complaint-view) and fill in the form... : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 16, 2005, 08:20:36 PM Scroll up a few messages. :) FTY got some, but not all, of her money back. If the seller is back in business under a new ID, then she should be able to get the rest of the money.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 16, 2005, 08:24:09 PM Funny that the auction is exactly the same... and that she did not offer to give me a replacement if she had 2 spare cards...
: Re:Where is my card? : Luluhime March 16, 2005, 08:31:32 PM Also, she has decided not to accept paypal as a form of payment in this one. Only forms in which, if you did need a refund, you'd either have to go through ebay, or beg the seller. Whereas paypal will try and fight your case for you.
This seems really dodgey, I bet you the person who wins it this time won't get it through either.... : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 16, 2005, 08:32:50 PM How coincidental that less than two weeks after PayPal closes the case (in which she makes 15 pounds and gets to keep the card), she's running the listing again. :-\
The two auctions definitely have the same picture. The card is in the same position and each picture has the same mark in the upper right corner. : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 16, 2005, 08:36:03 PM Thanks Cindy for the link - I just got off the chat and sent this email to Ebay
Member or Item being reported: 6161859952 Message: I won an auction for a Sean Bean autograph card on the 9th January 2005 (6144436727). The card was not received after a month, the seller insisted it was sent. She then deregistered from Ebay and Paypal shortly afterwards. Under these suspicious circumstances, I then filed a Paypal claim and received a partial refund as the seller did not respond to Paypal requests to provide proof of postage. I now see that there is a new auction for this same card (6161859952). The seller has newly registered and is situated in the same area the previous seller was. Is it possible to see if this is the same person registered under a different ID? Thank you, Jo I have also sent an email to the high bidder of her current auction with a link to mine warning them to be careful. So - the ball has started to roll... updates to (hopefully) follow! : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 16, 2005, 08:56:02 PM Go get her, Jo! Even if you can't recover more funds, eBay might shut down her new ID and auctions.
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna March 16, 2005, 09:17:15 PM Good Luck Jo!! ;)
Keep us posted please! ;D : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 17, 2005, 02:48:02 AM >hi im just a little confused about your question as im not rebecca im ollie,
>i have only been on ebay since 11th febuary as for the card i got it from a >tv shopping chanel about 2 years ago does that help? are these cards not >allowed on ebay? it is a genuine autograph defo not fraudulant . >Ollie Hmmm... I'm going to wait until Ebay get back to me with the address details : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 17, 2005, 02:57:50 AM It's possible that this one is a different seller who is using the description and photo from the auction you won. It's also possible that "Ollie" is the husband of Rebecca or even a fake name.
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 17, 2005, 02:57:53 AM Ask the seller (Ollie) where she got the picture from. Maybe she stole the picture from your auction. If she says she took it herself, well, it is definitely the same picture. Something is very off here.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 17, 2005, 03:03:18 AM I think it woulds more than a little suspicious.. I'll definitely apologise if I have made a mistake - but I shall wait until I hear from Ebay before doing anything.
The reason why I did not ask if it was the same was because she would obviously not say yes if she knew it was me - that would be like signing your guilty confession, right? Could I please ask someone here to email and ask Ollie for me? It would be much appreciated :) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 17, 2005, 03:06:07 AM What exactly do you want me to ask? I will do it.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 17, 2005, 03:07:40 AM Just if its the exact card up for auction - don't say anything about me. Thanks so much for your help :)
Its not that I have lost much money over this, but I want to make sure if this person is the same as before, that they don't get away with fraud. Cindy - about the copying auctions idea - you may be right, but keep in mind this auction finished over 2 months ago, its not a recent one that could easily be dug up - I had to do it via my Paypal complaint ID. Also, the description eg. of a 'quick and reluctant sale' is too similar for my liking. Its not the best auction to use - if I was lazy and wanted to rip off a scan/auction, I'd take something like MPC or elvensongster's pics/auctions! : Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 17, 2005, 03:26:59 AM I agree. There are too many similarities for it not to be the same person.
What I find really strange is that the username from your auction doesn't have any recent negatives that would indicate a problem with auctions around the time the person was unregistered. If someone were trying to commit fraud, it wouldn't be worth it to do it for one auction. Unless there were several buyers like you who weren't able to leave feedback until it was too late. : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 17, 2005, 03:30:20 AM There was nothing she had for auction at the time that was particularly worth much - even I did not think 51 quid was much to rip off, but I guess she thought it was worth it!
If I wanted to sign out with a bang, I'd list a FOTR Merry/Legolas or a triple auto (maybe all 3! ;) ) : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 17, 2005, 04:12:34 AM Okay, here is what i wrote:
Hi. I was just wondering if the card pictured is the exact one that is up for auction? I know sometimes people take pictures from other auctions, but I wanted to make sure, prior to bidding, that the one up for auction is the exact one pictured. I am very picky about my cards, so I like to see exactly what I am bidding on prior to doing so. If it isn't the exact card, could you send me a scan of it for me? Thanks. rns91294 So hopefully, I will have something soon for us. : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 17, 2005, 04:43:50 AM Got a response, and it is not a good one:
hi, yes it is a scan of the actual card for auction not a coppied picture. So now what? : Re:Where is my card? : Morningangel-Iola March 17, 2005, 04:44:16 AM I bought a daily propeht card the other week from a seller on ebay and it wasn't until I was telling Anna about it that she said she had seen the exact same picture of the card on an other auction by them. I got rather concerned and requested to see what card I had won, because I was worried I would be paying a high price for a anaff card. But luckily in the end they said they would send the card in the pic, which was a good one. I do wonder what I would have got if I had just paid up :-\
: Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 17, 2005, 04:51:19 AM That is why I thought it safe to write what I did to this seller, as so many people use one picture for all the auctions. There was a great Fizzing Wizzbees variant up for auction, but I started to notice it more than once, and then noticed the descritpion saying the card shown is just an example. I would of hated to spend so much money and get a plain swatch. Glad you were able to get the one pictured. If you did not write, you may have ended up with something totally different.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 17, 2005, 05:18:38 AM Thanks for your help Sara! Now I will wait for ebay to return with the results
Another thing I had not mentioned was that the style of writing in the email I received was very similar to the style of the seller... Please feel free to disagree with this - say so if you think I am on the wrong track and its just an innocent seller I am harassing! : Re:Where is my card? : Boggle March 17, 2005, 05:27:23 AM Hey FTY,
If thats a scan of the actual card its strange how its exactly the same scan as the one from your auction, complete with the circular marks along the top! I reckon you're on the right track! : Re:Where is my card? : rns91294 March 17, 2005, 10:36:36 PM I think you are on the right track too. Now had he told me it was a copied picture, that would be a different story, but the pics are identical...everything about them. And the fact that your seller is now not registered AND you never got the card, something is definitely wrong. Please feel free to tell eBay about my email to the seller and the response. I want sellers like this to be caught. ebay is supposed to be a safe buying place, and sellers like this can ruin the entire experience.
: Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 22, 2005, 05:07:53 AM I received this email today:
Hello Jo, Thank you for taking the time to write to eBay with regard to auction number 6161859952. We have thoroughly investigated your report and taken appropriate action in accordance with our policies. I can confirm this member is no longer a registered user. Due to privacy law, I am not able to discuss the details of another members account further. I would like to thank you for your help in keeping eBay a fun and safe place to trade. Kind regards, Mike Ryan eBay Customer Support And look at this they have deregistered her so it looks like we were right about Rebecca and 'Olly' being one and the same: http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=shatteredmumof3boys I did not get anymore money back, but I did not mind - this was ultimately what I wanted to - to boot this fraud off Ebay The moral of the story is: Do NOT P*SS OFF FTY >:( : Re:Where is my card? : Morningangel-Iola March 22, 2005, 05:17:02 AM Go you ;D
: Re:Where is my card? : Nienna March 22, 2005, 05:49:29 AM Well done Jo!! ;D ;)
: Re:Where is my card? : kbmum March 22, 2005, 05:49:32 AM Did you see in her feedback where another buyer was questioning the authenticity of an item? It's nice to see eBay taking appropriate and fast action for once.
FTY, I hope I never p*ss you off! ;) : Re:Where is my card? : ferdinand_the_yak March 22, 2005, 05:52:11 AM Cheers guys ;D
Its actually quite hard to annoy me that much... ;) back to the drawing board for my Sean Bean fix though :P I wonder if that buyer will ever see that card? I warned them, and they bid in spite of that, so if they get ripped off - I do not feel sorry for them in the least :P : Re:Where is my card? : Nienna March 22, 2005, 06:13:19 AM They might get lucky and actually receive the card! :-\
*boo hiss* Hope you manage to find another card to satisfy your 'Bean' hunger! ;) : Re:Where is my card? : Anna March 22, 2005, 06:16:01 AM |
