I WANT TO MEET ANDY SERKIS!!!!!!!!!!  :'( :'( :'( :'(

I would love to... but I will have started my thesis already and will have no time >:(

The Buffy Convention is practically in my backyard;) But sadly, I am not a Buffy fan... what a waste :(

I am a buffy fan but I dont think I will be spending the money to see these four, granted they are good but arent really the characters that I favour in buffy/angel.

I have an idea in my head about driving up to Sydney for Supanova in October, but it depends on who will be there. The list of guests has only been released for the Brisbane show and I dont know if it will be the same for the Sydney one. If it is, then my idea may be put into action!! I will just wait and see :)

If I do go to Sydney for Supanova are their any Yak Shackers that would like to meet up with me?? It would be fun to meet ya'll  8) hehe Or are there any Yak Shackers in Melbourne that wouldn't mind a road trip to Sydney?? Ok so I havent even made up my mind if im going yet...getting a bit carried away hehe  ;)

*raises hand*

I'll be going Trey, most likely anyways! So we can meet up if you are interested... I see that apart from JRD, there is the person who does the voice for Maes Hughes in FMA - very excited about that! :o :o :o

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Trey September 27, 2005, 05:04:57 PM
erm....its like a 8 hour drive to sydney  :o i didnt realise it was that long! With the price of petrol these days I would be better off if I got a flight!! I will have to say no for now but if they have cheap airfare sales in the meantime  :o=  then I will come!!

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: sixpence33 September 29, 2005, 09:22:36 PM
:-\ So Trey what is the price of gas on your side of the pond? It just hit $3.00 a gallon in Texas and jumping up everyday because of the hurricanes we have been having. :(

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Trey September 30, 2005, 07:56:04 AM
erm I dont know about gallons at all...and what that would equate to here in Australia...it costs about $1.35 a litre here so depending on how many litres your car takes it could cost anything from $40 to $100 to fill up your car. I dont have too big of a tank so it costs about $55 to fill up at the moment.

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Anna September 30, 2005, 08:02:22 AM
1 litre = 0.2641721 gallon - Is the price you stated for AU$ or US$?

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: blackcat20 September 30, 2005, 08:05:54 AM
that $au1.35, though i got mine for $1.25 two days ago...

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Anna September 30, 2005, 08:18:48 AM
This is giving me such a headache - I failed math miserably. :-[   So if 1 AUD = 0.761182 USD, how much is that a gallon in USD? ???  I think it's easier just to stop driving altogether instead of trying to figure this out. ;)

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: blackcat20 September 30, 2005, 08:24:32 AM
sounds like a plan  ;D from what ive read in the paper, out prices are cheaper compared to many countries, but given we used to pay 60-80c per litre, $1.30 is quite expensive. Thank goodness i have a small car, runs for ages on one tank of petrol...

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Trey September 30, 2005, 08:41:52 AM
haha its giving me a headache too...bugger it, i cant work it out.

$1.30ish a litre it pretty cheap compared to other countries i do agree, but we get alot of our petrol subsidised by the government so really it is much more expensive than $1.30 but we only have to pay $1.30..does that make sense?

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Anna September 30, 2005, 08:48:43 AM
Yeah, I gave up trying to figure it out - Where's Tower when you need him (he's a math whiz ;D )?  I think it makes sense. :D  I live in California, so our gas is higher than other states because our gas is specially treated for some environmental reason. :P

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: blackcat20 September 30, 2005, 08:55:00 AM
got it (i think)! works out to about $us3.55 per gallon

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Anna September 30, 2005, 09:18:46 AM
Wow! :o  So you're actually paying more then we are! :o  I'm glad I drive a small car too. :)

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: blackcat20 September 30, 2005, 09:55:22 AM
how much do you pay?

Im assuming my calculations are correct...if 1 litre=.264 gallons, then we pay $au1.25 per 0.26 gallons, = $au4.73 per gallon, = approx $us3.55 per gallon...

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Anna September 30, 2005, 09:59:08 AM
We're at around US $3 a gallon for mid-grade (the price depends on the grade of gas).

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: blackcat20 September 30, 2005, 10:05:03 AM
yeah...the price above is for standard petrol, its a bit more for the premium stuff (though it seems to go further, so prob cheaper in the long run)

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Trey September 30, 2005, 10:23:04 AM
well im glad u had the patience to work that out  :D

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: sixpence33 September 30, 2005, 10:26:50 AM
:) AMAZING! :o I ALWAYS THOUGHT WE WERE HIGH! ??? I GUESS US AMERICANS ARE A BIT SPOILED. :P

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: blackcat20 September 30, 2005, 10:27:58 AM
well im glad u had the patience to work that out :D

only took about a minute (and i have too much time on my hands, my lab work is all running on its own...)

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!
: Sharon September 30, 2005, 06:42:01 PM
Well if my math isn't too dodgy I have just worked out that in the UK (London more specifically) the price of petrol is currently 94p per litre which is:

£3.56 a gallon
USD 6.28
AUD 8.25

Now that really is worth a few  :o :o :o

If my subtraction and division is way off please someone correct me  ;D

: Re: Upcoming Oz Events!!

well we all know that someone is getting rich it just doesn't happen to be us lmao

Hang on - are you taking into account the fact that the American gallon is tiny?

A British imperial capacity measure (liquid or dry) is equal to 4.545 liters. The United States liquid unit is equal to 3.785 liters.

Yes we do pay more for our petrol because it's taxed to high heaven (soon this will be something we have worldwide eventually - a carbon credit - one person get's a carbon allocation that they can "produce" in a year or so, or at least that's the plan), but the Americans have a smaller gallon, did you account for that Sharon? Sorry if you did ;)
