: How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : Roz January 17, 2005, 05:10:53 PM I was just wandering about the Sideshow WETA site, feeling left out by not being at the Orc thingy when I saw this:
(http://www.sideshowtoy.com/affiliates/banners/weaponsets_468x60.gif) (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/2021/CD974/) Oh ok that's the standard pic that sideshow WETA give you but look at this - (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/large/9603R.jpg) (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/2021/CD974/) You get minitures of their weapons fixed to a display plaque and you get this Merry's Shortsword Sam's Shortsword Frodo's Shortsword Pippin's Shortsword and last but by no means least: Sam's Frying Pan Is it just me or is that flippin' hilarious?? :D You have to admire their sense of humour. LOTR can be very serious but it must have ganed some of it's popularity in the movies by being able to giggle at itself like this :) : Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : ferdinand_the_yak January 17, 2005, 06:55:22 PM That's a gem of a piece, that is... a great finishing touch ;)
I don't know about the rest of you, and its not MEANT to be a funny scene, but I sure had a giggle in the Mines of Moria when Sam whacks a couple of orcs with his trusty pan and says in an almost surprised voice 'I think I'm getting the hang of this!' Who needs the Flame of the West when you have a frying pan? Makes me feel boring jyst frying bacon in mine! ;D : Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : Tea_and_Fruit January 17, 2005, 09:24:40 PM Hmmm if i would have the choice i would only take Sam's Frying Pan. A usefull and very impressive wapon ;)

A usefull and very impressive weapon ;) Not to mention that in times of peace or on long journeys you can prepare food too ;) : Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : Anna January 17, 2005, 09:32:33 PM The person who designed this display is brilliant!! ;D
: Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : Nienna January 17, 2005, 11:33:56 PM That's classic Roz! ;D
I wouldn't mind one of those displays myself ... a bit more manageable than the full sized ones and as for the frying pan ..... *no comment* ::) : Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : cowblue January 18, 2005, 03:41:29 AM You certainly cannot ' pan ' Weta for such originality!

: Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : Nienna January 19, 2005, 02:42:48 AM Nice to see we share the same sense of humour considering we're scattered across the globe! :P ;) ;)
Pretty bad puns though! ::) : Re:How cool is this "arms of the Fellowship"? : savage727 January 20, 2005, 08:46:22 PM The Sideshow/Weta Weapons Sets are very well done and reasonably priced. I have both The Arms of Aragorn which has his Ranger Sword, Bow and Arrow, his Elven Fighting Knife and the smaller Fighting Knife that was on his Sword Sheath, and his Pipe. I also have The Arms of the Fellowship 2 which has Boromir's Sword, Sheath, Dagger, and Horn along with Merry and Pippins Elven Daggers.
Two sets that have been sold out for quite some time now are - The Arms of the Fellowship which had Gandalf's Staff and Glamdring, Aragorn's Anduril, and Frodo's Sting and The Arms of Legolas which had his Bow and Arrow and his Fighting Knives. The original selling price of all the sets are $30 plus postage. I have seen the two sold out sets named above on ebay selling for 3 to 6 times their original value. |
