This card sold for $208.10 back in November and is now back up for sale.  The swatch of Harry's robe is plain, but the swatch from Cedric's robe has part of the badger from the Hufflepuff patch.

Yes it is a beautiful card-i have just bought too many other beautiful things to have it sitting around unfortunately.
There's not too much bidding happenning at the moment but my Selling manager tells me there are over 20 people watching it.
I'm sure it will be well loved wherever it goes  ;)

I saw that too.  Very impressed.   I wonder if mine would go that high (you can see mine on the first page of "My New Card" Thread.  it is from the same patch, but doesn't have part of the badger, which I am sure attracks more attention.  Although, I never plan to sell.  Just happy with the price I paid for it.

Do you think, there is any chance against the current high bidder? I don´t think so. I know, he/she is a real HIGH bidder. Does anybody know him/her? A member of the forum? I don´t think so, or am i wrong? What do you think? Should io place a bid?  ;D

If you are prepared to pay more for it - then yes - you might get the card...  and if you don't  you might make more money for Inger :)

That depends Tower.  Do you want the card?  Are you willing to pay more than that for it?  If so, I say go for it.  I love my dual variant and it looks so much better in person. I can only imagine that this one would be the same.

Of course, if i would be the high bidder (and i can´t imagine this, trust me), i would pay the card and would be glad to get it. :)

If you really want the card, it's worth a shot at bidding.  You just never know what a person's high bid will be.

A card is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.  There are other people out there who think it's worth it, because they've bidded up to the price it's at.
Bottom line, if you want it and are prepared to pay, go for it!

I have one question. How is the surface? Is the variant part just printed or is it different material?

I believe the variant part is a patch sewn onto the robe.

How is your card, rns91294? I believe, you are right, kbmum, but would be nice to know it 100%. :)

And this is why the picture does it no justice.  If you look at mine:

At the top of the variant part, you can see a small portion of the regular pattarn.  If I wanted to (and I never would) I could put my fingernail behind the patch part.  It is indeed a different material that was stiched on to the robe.  And, there are not many of these.  It is not like the variants we saw with the Quidditch costume from the first set that was more like an iron on for their name on the back of the robe.  First, it was an iron on, and second, although still rare and hard to find, I would think you would find more like that than ones like this with the patch.  It pretty thick too.  And think about it, this one actually has a piece of the Badger on it!!!!  If you are willing to spend that kind of money on it, I definitely think it is worth it.  But you have to ask yourself how much you want a variant in your collection?  I am sure we will eventually see some on the oplain quidditch costumes and on Harry's swatch on the dual, but do you risk waiting?  And since Cedrics single costume and this dual were probably taken from the same costume, it looks like you would only be able to get a piece of the patch from the dual, since it seems that is where they put them.

So to answer your question, NO it is not drawn on or even ironed on (the look of the other variants from the first set).  it is literally a patch that was stitched on (or possibly one of those iron on patches).

It´s not really out of my mind, but it´s very high now. There seems to be not much space for me. No, i can´t believe to have a chance. And this might be very good. I love variants, but wow, i have also other ideas what to do with the money. Hmmmm. Let´s see what happens. :)

See, I am the wrong one to ask that question too.    Personally, I would not spend that kind of money on any card, which is why i don't own any of the big autos.  And if the one I own was this high, I myself would not own it today.  The most I spent was $80 on a Marauders Map two weeks ago that i still did not get yet.  And I was a wreck about spending that much money!!!! Now I am a wreck that it hasn't arrived yet ;)

 However, if you don't mind spending that much money, or you just really want the card, I do think it is worth it.  Especially if you have the money to spend.  Me, I would rather take the money and use it towards 4 or 6 other cards I wanted (it doesn't seem like you are spending so much if you buy more items, yet in the end, I probably spent more than I can imagine and could probably own one of those big autos by now.  Actually, I know I could).  So, Tower, this is completely up to you. I can tell you that I absolutely love mine, but that is just my own personal opinion.

After all the latest fizzing whizzbies variant (there have been 2 that I have noticed on ebay so far - one with the face on and one with lettering (which has been auctioned twice) went for around $150.

Do you think it's just timing? A nicer card?

Just keep telling yourself that.  Really though, I do love the card and would never part with it.  And now that I own it, I would probably have paid more for it at the time if I had known how nice it was in person.

Roz- I do think it is higher because it is part of the badger.  I would think mine would still go pretty high, but I would imagine maybe half what this one would go for. Regardless, it is neat to own a piece of the patch.  Can you imagine what a piece of the Gryffindor patch would go for?

The FW card that went VERY high was with the face from the top of the card on and was beautiful... I think it was worth it :)

I don´t know. The crazy thing is that i wouldn´t have placed a bid of $200 in November. And now? My problem is: I hate to do such crazy things. And $300 is crazy, isn´t it?

I think the card is going for so much for all of the reasons Roz listed.  The dual costume is a great card, even with plain swatches.  Add part of the patch, and it really is one of a kind.

I put a bid in on this auction earlier on (okie117 for $110.00).  I have since just been watching the price go higher and higher.  Needless to say, I've decided not to bid on it any more.  To me it would have been worth $110.00, but not the price it's at now.

But then I paid over $200.00 for my Fizzing Whizbees variant bacause I really really liked it!

No i have done nothing clever like reading shakespere (or J.K. Rowling) to either of my children.
I am reading Inkheart by Funke at the moment which i am slowly getting addicted to but i'm almost afraid of reading it aloud as funny things might happen.
My son is 4 and a half and my daughter just turned one.
I can't wait until they discover JKs books!
My son knows all about Harry Potter (from snippets of the movie and the soundtracks i pop into the car endlessly) and the cards ("noooo toouchie!" as a yak would say) but he's not seen any of the movies all the way through as they are a little scary.
Probably Winnie the Pooh is safe right now but give me a year or so and the indoctrination will begin.
Ahh it all awaits. Imagine not having read HP or Lord of the Rings or seeing Star Wars and experiencing it again for the first time!

You should have the Potter audio books playing for them both to listen to. True they won't understand much but Stephen Fry's voice is quite soothing and he has a lovely accent and he is SO funny reading the different parts in different voices ... him reading Dobby, Hagrid and Tonks are my faves! ;)
So, they get to hear the stories without you having to do any of the work ~ can't be bad! LOL :P

Nienna I love Stephen Fry.
I love his voice and i know there is another version of the audio books from the US but i just cannot bring myself to listen to them.
Fry and Laurie were always favourites and when Stephen turns up in films (like Cold Comfort Farm-an absolute classic) it just makes my day.
I am so pleased that JK had the forsight to enlist him for reading the books.
Actually my son and i sometimes share headphones (he has one in one ear and i have one in my ear) when i am listening to them.
Its when he jumps up and gets distracted by something (like a truck) and takes my head with him that problems insue but hey love hurts.

I'm sure Fry could probably retire on the money he receives in royalties for doing these books, but who cares - he does them brilliantly!
The other actor you're thinking of who reads the HP books is Jim Dale ~ another Brit!
His biggest claim to fame prior to this was him acting in the 'Carry On' films in the 1960's and 70's. I'm sure he's done other films since then, but that's what I always think of when I hear his name. I don't know if you've ever seen any of these films or not, but they are what we'd say (here in the UK) as having *seaside-humour* ...  meaning plenty of double entendre jokes and smut! LOLOL
