: Rittenhouse's Quotable Star Trek TNG
: hockeyron January 15, 2005, 03:52:45 AM
I see Rittenhouse Archives new " The Quotable Star Trek - The Next Generation" set looks very, very interesting ....

Each box will contain 1 autograph card (and almost all of the main characters are signing)  -- PLUS -- 1 Starfleet Relic/Memorabilia card  # to 99 .....

9 different shirt cards are noted --
   now if there's 9 cards with 99 of each that's  ONLY 891 boxes ....
  can this be true ???
Can't be producted in that limited quantity can it ??
That can't be right can it ??
But there website says 1 costume card per box and the only listed and shown costumes are the ones they say are serial numbered # 99  each ....
If this is true this looks like a can't lose product  IMO ...

 Thoughts ??

Dual color costume swatches won't be numbered anymore - We received a lot of mail about that one and the popular vote seemed to say not to number them -- or so I've heard :)

Awesome!

Awesome!

This is all I can say, I've just browsed the net and actually found some info on this product... whilst I am not the world's biggest or most die hard TNG fan, how does this grab you?

Patrick Stuart as Picard auto??? (that man....that voice... !!!)

And a DUAL auto from Jonathan Frakes & Marina Sirtis as Riker & Troi !!! How rocking is that?

Joanna you must have been bursting about how exciting this product is going to be!!!

Yes, I'm looking forward to this set too.  One thing though, I didn't see Gates McFadden listed as a signer.  I realize this isn't going to devastate many people, but I liked her character ???

Not for lack of trying for Ms. McFadden :( Sometimes they just don't wanna sign. *sigh*

Truthfully, I prefer DS9 to TNG :) But I think this set will rock!

Ooer - she's trying to start a fight :-X

It's all definitely down to personal taste, given a choice of the 5 I'd take Voyager any day but lots of people can't stand Janeway's "munchkin" voice...but I like her  :-\

Second would be TNG though so that's why the set tingled at my spidey sense :)

I guess there's no plans for any more voyager sets is there? I guess it's old hat to you guys now it's off screen (TNG is the exception to prove the rule I guess)

(Pulls on boxing gloves ;) ) As far as the shows go, I much prefer Enterprise over DS9 and Voyager.  Every season seems to get better, and I love how it provides all of the backstory for the rest of the Star Trek world.

I know I'm one of the few people on the planet to prefer DS9 - but I just love Avery Brooks (and *that* voice!) and the whole series had an arc - much like Babylon 5 (which I also loved!) as opposed to the "hop around" approach both TNG and Voyager had.

I appreciate Kate Mulgrew's role as Captain - come on, what warm-blooded woman wouldn't want to see a positive female role-model :) I never cried during any episode of any Trek series, like I cried when they killed off Jadzia in DS9.

Will we do another Voyager set? Who knows - the way we're going, could be the Quotable Voyager in 2007.

Any set where one could be offered more Jeri Ryan cards is a plus ;D

Allow me to be catty for a moment...

Um, what else could she possibly be doing to not want to sign again? I mean, it must take her a whole 2 hours to sign a few hundred cards for a fee.   :o

He hee I'll hold you to that... erm - don't suppose you have a promo for it yet do you ROFL, just kidding!

Can I ask you something? I noticed these pics of the costume cards:

I remember you mentioning in a post a while back that for the prop cards for Stargate you had made less cards than anticipated because you had only included the interesting bits.

These two costumes are really nice with both the colours and so nicely centred, are they all going to be like this (that you know of) or will these be sought after variants?

The box price does seem quite high (but I've never pre-ordered an RA product before and always picked up a box or whatever at a fair) does the RRP of $84 generally hold true with dealers or might that be more/less??) but if you consider you are getting 2 great items it's a heck of a lot better than past releases I've collected (actually I am not just having a go at Artbox here for not guaranteeing anything but also Topps, it's very rare to get a dud box with Topps but I have now managed it 3 times).

Hee hee - and way to go on the "international" case topper - Borg cubes as sketches will look much cooler than Romulan War Birds any day :)

Can you reveal any info on the print run for this or is it all too top secret?

:)

P.S. Is it my imagination or have you guys spelled the acresses Marta DuBois wrong on your website... or am I wrong? Not sure but in the check list they have written "Marta DuBoise as Ardra Autograph Card".. sorry if I am wrong but it's worth checking out.

: Re:Rittenhouse's Quotable Star Trek TNG

hmm.. let me see. The costumes pictured are, of course, the hard to find variants. There will be solid color, solid black, and two-color costumes for all 7 of the crew. Aren't we mean?  :D

The box price on our website is the absolute highest price you'd pay anywhere. We are not trying to compete with our dealers and distributors, so we price everything at what would be the pack price times the number of packs, then tack on shipping and handling. We do this as a sort of service to those collectors who have no dealers near them, dislike eBay, or just prefer to buy from the manufacturer. Dealers are required only to not sell for a loss - in other words, IF they pay $60 a box, then they aren't to sell it for $50 a box - which is different from Inkworks' policy, which I can't get into for obvious reasons :) ie - I don't work for them.

And I do honor the guarantee. From time to time, things happen and the box might not have in it what it is supposed to - just drop us a line and I'll fix it :)

And mispellings on the website. I happen to be married to the webmaster and I can vouch for his inability to spell anything correctly. I'll check on it later and drop him a line :)

So, does that help?

Cheers SketchQueen, you did an admirable job at answering my quickfire questions :) thank you.

As Mrs. SKetchy says, don't look at retail, it's the WORST! FInd a loving dealer somewhere..one who offers free promos and sell sheets and doesn't cherry pick boxes and hold them tightly, vowing never to let go ;) And that holds true for any product, not just Trek.

This is a great looking set. I bought a box, and did quite well. The costume cards are really nice, and I really liked the comic book chase set.
I think Star Trek fans will be pleased.

You have gone very quiet Chris - should I take this to mean that you won't be on the Shack in your lunchbreak but instead you will be opening packs?

I hope so!

I know that Rittenhouse numbered all the cards for SG1-7. Did they number this set as well? I don't see any mention of it sothey probably didn't, it seems a long and hassle filled process (numbering cards) but I find it to be rather a nice touch.

: Re:Rittenhouse's Quotable Star Trek TNG
: sketchqueen April 14, 2005, 05:32:43 PM
IF I'm understanding you correctly, we did number the Starfleet Finest cards in TNG Quotable like we numbered the Prop Cards from SG1-7.

It's fun, let me tell you ;)

I really love this set.  With an auto and a costume in every box, plus all of the different chase cards, it's definitely worth the cost of the box.  If only other manufacturers would follow suit, we'd all be happy collectors!

Not to mention how much more interesting it is to open boxes with more than one thing to find in them  ;D

I have opened my 6 cases and am short by a few autos for a master set

I did have one box with no auto or costume at all.

but it is a great set and I have listed a few things on ebay

i wonder how often that happens?do they put the auto/costume cards in by hand or does a machine do it and your box having neither does that mean there is a box with 2 costumes and 2 autos out there.that would be a good box to get.lol

I just wanted to post that I finally completed this set. ;D  This set was harder to complete than any Artbox Harry Potter set. ::)

I could still may get the different variations of Chris Bolson' s U.S.S. Enterprise SketchaFex cards, but for right now I'll settle for one version. :)

Really? Was the availability of cards just that difficult? Or did you try to get dual colour swatches for all the crew ;)?

: Re: Rittenhouse's Quotable Star Trek TNG
: kbmum August 18, 2005, 05:28:14 PM
It's easy to put together the costume set (9 cards) with black swatches from the uniforms.  But, if you want color swatches, it's very difficult.  There seem to be a good amount of Picard, Riker, and Wesley Crusher red.  The blue costumes -- Troi and Beverly Crusher -- are harder to find.  The worst ones are the gold costumes of Data, Worf, and Yar.  There are very few of those and they tend to be expensive.  Of course, the two-color swatches are the most expensive.

I've been slowly collecting this set since it was released, and I still don't have a gold costume.  I did manage to get all of the red costumes and one blue.  I've settled for black costumes for some of the cards.  From what I've read, there are people who are collecting two complete costume sets, one all black and one all color.

In some cases, it was the availability of the cards.  I had a hard time getting my last three autographs, Patrick Stewart, Majal Barrett and Famke Janssen.  The Starfleets Finest set of 9 was also difficult to get at a decent price (there was no way I was going to pay $45-50 each ::) ).  And yes, I managed to get all color costumes, two of them having dual color swatches (Picard and Data).

The set consists of the following:

110 - Base Cards
9 - Space: The Final Frontier (1:5 Packs)
6 - The Quotable Star Trek: TNG Comic Books (1:14 Packs)
9 - TV Guide Covers (US Exclusive 1:40 Packs)
9 - The Captain's Women (International Exclusive 1:40 Packs)
9 - Starfleet's Finest (1:120 Packs)
9 - From the Archives Costume Cards (1:40 Packs)
24 - Autograph Cards (1:40 Packs)
1 - SketchaFex Cards (1:480 Packs) - Multiple Variations of the U.S.S. Enterprise
1 - Exclusive U.S. Case Topper Card
1 - Exclusive International Case Topper Card
1 - 1st Tier Multi-Case Incentive Card (1 for every 2 cases purchased)
1 - 2nd Tier Multi-Case Incentive Card (1 for every 6 cases purchased)
1 - Exclusive Collector's Album Card w/ Exclusive Autograph
4 - Promo Cards
