Hi,

Just wondering if any of the regular posters here participate in the RA rewards scheme?

And if you do have you redeemed your points for anything yet?

Anyone? Anyone? Dust?

I'm enrolled, but I don't have enough points to redeem for anything yet...Maybe next year ;D

I'm curious to know what people want to see in the catalog :)

Now - I should give you a few rules that I have to follow -- I can't put into the catalog 'current' items (ie, I can't put in the new Farscape Through the Wormhole autographs)

I can't (generally) create new items - We've all seen how long it's taking me to get the new Xena Cereal cards - almost a full year now!

But, I am open to ideas on new things :)

:) I've seen Chris/Gimli on here counting up wrappers so I know he does :)

i have 40 wrappers if anyone wants them (Chronicles of riddick)

I'll take 'em if they're still availabe.... ;D

It might be nice to see a few more things in the 500-750 point range. Granted, these probably won't be painted sketch cards or William Shatner autographs, but for people like me who buy boxes and not cases it might make it months instead of years to be able to redeem anything...Thanks.

This idea's been brought up to me in the past, but I'm not sure how people would react :

Randomly Selected Autograph from X (X being the property, not specific set) such as

Randomly Selected Autograph from Xena (but collectors would not be able to say "Beauty and Brawn please")

If the points were lower enough then I wouldn't moan if I were allowed to join in  ;D

And for that matter Gimli is a dealer and shouldn't be able to redeem points  ???

Maybe he used to before he became a dealer  ???

If Gimli is a dealer, he shouldn't be eligible to participate. If I knew Gimli's real name I could investigate, but I don't, so I can't :)

It's okay -I had a 'duh' moment and then remembered who he is and sent him an email asking him to clarify his status.

Oh I reckon you should put some promo packs on the rewards programme.
That would be quite cool  ;D

See, the Rewards program is kind of like my baby - it was my idea and I'm responsible for the running of it (which has caused more controversy than I like!)

I tend to draw the line very hard - either/or. Either you are a collector OR you are a dealer. Sure, I'm aware there are dealers with huge collections - but none of that matters to me :) My best friend is a huge Star Trek dealer and I know she's also a HUGE collector - but she's not allowed to participate.

Sigh - I'm rambling now, so I'm going to go back into my corner and steam silently. Like vegetables.

See now I think its unfair not letting Lynne participate.
I don't know a more devoted ST card collector.

Master Gimli and I have conversed and all is right in the world again - he was just using up the last bit of his points from his pre-business days so we're cool. He's cool with not being allowed to play now that's he's official like.

BUT - I'd still like to hear people's ideas for what they want to see in the catalog :)

Let me explain so everyone knows

as you may or maynot know i have only be a part time dealer for a few months and I still as a Teacher first and formost (and of course i collect too)

before I started my part time venture into cards I was like all of us a collector who likes to collect everything so I accumalated about 3500 points.

Since becoming a part time dealler I have bought about 3-4 Rittenhouse and have not sent in any of those points.

 Thanks Joanne for getting in touch  and can't wait for the Battlestar Gallactica set

Anyway I agree with Olly - promo packs would be good, I don't suppose there's any way you could get incentive scheme only promos?? People would go mad for them ;)

What does "unreleased" mean? If every sketch is slightly different (perhaps it isn't really as it's much easier for the artist to repeat a few than think up new ideas and concepts) aren't they all "unreleased"?

In that instance, 'unreleased' means no Alixia's (or Daelen's for that matter) drawn by Martineck were released in the series.

*Roz rushes to lots of card dealers bins to claim all the unreleased cards (or maybe Martineck's Voyager Borg Cube) after opening a pathetically low number of boxes herself ;)*

Incidentally whilst I am being nosy - what about the "corrected sketch cards"- do you send them back to the artist saying - "actually Paris has blond hair??" and get them to correct them?

What if they took offense at being asked to correct themselves ;) (you never know with some of these artistic temperaments!!)

Ah - the Corrected Paris sketch.

That was just a mess :) The wrong version is Tom Paris -the correct version is his father, Admiral Paris, so it's a BIG difference between son and dad :)

But I have those in the catalog too, so now everyone can get them - before, you had to turn in a Tom to get an Admiral :)

As much old stuff as you can find - look under people's coasters for old promos :D - in my case (geek confession coming up) the Voyager series (women of voyager) rocks!

(P.S. try down the back of the sofa too!)

Don't worry - I'm not getting one.... I just can't imagine anyone getting 10,000 points, but I am dying to know - do you take the person's name or even get someone to personalise an auto or something? Sounds good anyway.

Noone's gotten that high yet - so I'm not sure how they'll come out. I believe, and I'm usually wrong, that the actor will sign a personalized message to the collector, but what actor and what the turnaround time would be I haven't had the opportunity to test yet :)

He hee - that sounds awesome :) I am surprised Chris never collected that many since he was buying TONNES of product even before he became a part time dealer :)

It would be REALLY cool to see one / get some info on one if anyone does get that high Joanna... how long has the scheme been going? You never know - someone might still be saving up :)

Martineck's done an awesome "you" sketch :) Does he do a lot of fairs in America? I was amazed to meet him at memorabilia, looking through his binder was definitely one of the highlights of the weekend - followed closely by buying some of his sketches ;)

Actually, re-reading sketchqueen's post, I realize the personalized trek card isn't a sketch (which I assumed it was) so my scans aren't as correct here, but what the heck ;)

oh no! Ah well, since no one ever managed to save up it's fairly understandable, and there's so many lower numbered point items that look great  ;D

Hi. Though i'm not a "regular" here - having only been pointed in this direction a little while ago - I am currently saving up my points, but i'm not sure what for...

I did redeem 300 points for the Stargate Fan-Club set a little while back, but seeing as my main card-collecting revolves around Stargate - and i'm not too bothered by uncut sheets - there's no real "target" at the moment...

Which reminds me - i have to send off over 1000 SG1 Season 7 wrappers sometime in the near future...

One thing that niggles me - You can't apply wrappers retrospectively for sets released before the Rewards program started - I haven't got the heart to just throw out 200+ SG1 Season 5 wrappers.  :'(

What do RA do with the redeemed wrappers then, recyle them? If so I'd happily send in my Season 5 wrappers (with my season 7) so at least i know they're going to be useful, not wasting away their days in a city dump!

Sit down folks. I know this freaks some people out, but I shred the wrappers once they've been counted. There's no recycling available for it - it's not paper, it's not foil, it's something entirely different and untransferable - you can't make a bench out of it, for example.

do you really count all the wrappers I have to be honest when i was allowed to collect points I used to hate counting 2 cases worth of wrappers but thinking about why i bothered I don't know if i open all packs of course i have the right amount.

Yes, with few exceptions, I count each and every wrapper by hand - sometimes with the help of my 7 year old (we're working on counting by 2's, so it's a really good practical example!)

I have certain clients who I know, each and every time, they've submitted wrappers have been perfect and so I may just skim their wrappers to make sure all are in tact and the right wrappers (ie, no Fleer or Artbox wrappers), but generally, I'm counting them all. I did run the numbers to see how many wrappers I had counted last year and although I don't have the numbers here, I do recall it was over a hundred thousand - probably closer to 150,000.

THROW AWAY MY PRE-REWARD-POINT WRAPPERS!!!!

I haven't got the heart to do that - i think i'll keep them in a box in the cupboard until the technology to recycle not-paper/not-foil - material is introduced full scale...

Biffa don't take it at present....
