: Odd... has McKellen changed his sig? : Roz December 26, 2004, 04:28:43 AM Well have a look at this stunning print of Alan Lee's work - soon to be available from WETA ;) at $600 if you are game :P limited to a cool 400 pieces it's signed by Alan Lee too so it's pretty special but also by Richard Taylor and Sir Ian McKellen... but the odd thing is that to me his autograph looks a lot more scatty than it did back in the Topps FOTR stage... what do you guys think?

Lovely print though ... ;) : Re:Odd... has McKellen changed his sig? : Boggle December 26, 2004, 05:47:17 AM 8) :o :P I want i want i want!
: Re:Odd... has McKellen changed his sig? : savage727 December 26, 2004, 05:07:13 PM I think if you look at the vast majority of stars signatures over time you will see them get sloppier as they do not seem to take the time to carefully sign items. This may be for several reasons. Time, boredom, and repetition come to mind. Just look at what happenned to Sean Bean's and Karl Urban's autographs in the course of the Topps LOTR's card series. Sir Ian is probably in high demand for his autograph and it could be his signature is degrading for the reasons I listed above.
The painting is a beautiful piece and it would be nice to have those signatures! :) : Re:Odd... has McKellen changed his sig? : Roz December 31, 2004, 01:04:42 AM Uh oh!
It's the sort of thing you could start a collection of (mind you if you think of the prices of the Topps autos this does come framed and is much nicer really). Alas they have also done a PJ one... although I think I like the Gwaihir one better ... (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/large/8601R.jpg) http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/6713/CD974/ Although PJ Is a very cool sig to have, although a fair number of us already do from TT (though less of us from ROTK U ;)) And (with the same sigs as above but John Howe instead of Alan Lee) (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/large/8603.jpg) http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/6777/CD974 for some reason he's a bit cheaper - $500 - I am probably more of a fan of Alan Lee - his fantastical drawings are wonderful more of peacetimes, Eagles flying etc - John Howe seems to relish in war... BAH this is starting to look like a very expensive collection... Hmmm! Back to auto card collecting then ;) The Gwaihir is still my firm favourite.. I am doing really well saving up... - $5 - only $595 to go :P |
