: JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : blackcat20 December 21, 2004, 05:35:37 AM Apparently, according to JK on her site, a release date will be announced withing 24 hours!
Now thats what I call an early christmas pressie! ;D : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Nienna December 21, 2004, 07:03:16 AM WHAT??!!! :o
*rushes off to investigate*....... .... *then rushes back again*.... Where did you see that bit of info? I've had a rummage about and can't find anything that specific on the site.... *dun dun duuuuuuuun ..... the thick plottens.....* :P : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : blackcat20 December 21, 2004, 07:09:53 AM the info is behind the door which usually has a "do not disturb" sign. but you have to work your way through a couple of questions to get in...
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : mcgonagall December 21, 2004, 07:59:15 AM i can't even find the questions lol :P
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : kbmum December 21, 2004, 08:33:08 AM Click on the hair scrunchie to get to the office door. You'll see a Christmas tree in the mirror -- click on it and the door will open. If you click on the packages, the tags will pop up with the questions written on them.
If you need help with the questions, the answers are available at www.the-leaky-cauldron.org. : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Roz December 21, 2004, 04:19:03 PM Woo hoo what fab news - c'mon JK - SPRING RELEASE PLEASE!
I wonder whether she's saving the announcement for Christmas day still or is being rushed through for some reason : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : ford-prefect December 21, 2004, 06:38:08 PM July 16th :D
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : MakTheYak December 21, 2004, 06:56:28 PM Honestly, the books finished! Why's it take so long to get it on the shelves?? Bah. I'm very impatient!
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : mcgonagall December 21, 2004, 07:10:39 PM me too but i have just pre ordered my english copy and as soon as the stores open will be pre ordering my aussie copy too
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : rns91294 December 21, 2004, 10:33:35 PM A little depressed. I was so excited this morning when I heard she was done, but 7 months to release? Why so long?
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Roz December 21, 2004, 10:35:22 PM Proof reading? Corrections? Partial Rewrites and then they probably have to produce close on to 15 million copies before release date (otherwise they won't be ready for the demand).
So I guess that could easily take 7 months! : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : rns91294 December 22, 2004, 01:29:21 AM I guess you are right. I was just hoping for a Spring release (Aprilish).
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : blackcat20 December 22, 2004, 03:59:41 AM ah well, it will make good winter reading for us Aussies!
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Trey December 22, 2004, 04:16:04 AM WOW this is great....I cant wait to read it...I honestly wasn't even expecting it so soon FANTASTIC ;D
Roz is right, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that has to be done before the book can be released...it has to be perfected even before it can be published. Writers are commonly great with their writing but often make punctuation and grammical errors. : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : rns91294 December 22, 2004, 04:36:47 AM And now I have time to reread OotP again ;)
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : ferdinand_the_yak December 22, 2004, 11:46:57 AM Nice Xmas pressie indeed!
I will definitely be curled up reading it this winter, thesis or no! :) : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Roz December 22, 2004, 05:05:20 PM Amazon don't miss a trick ;) you can preorder it already and it will be £9.99 (the book shop price will be £16.99 - I wonder how many pages it is this time... she assured us it would not be as long as OOTP, but to be fair she said OOTP wouldn't be so long as GoF

FTY are you sure you won't be locking up the book and reading it later? : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : blackcat20 December 22, 2004, 05:08:52 PM FTY are you sure you won't be locking up the book and reading it later? I had to do that with the last book; I got my mum to lock it in her filing cabinet until exams were over... :P : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : mcgonagall December 22, 2004, 05:12:00 PM I will be lining up from 3 am in the morning even though i have preordered . I will get my book as soon as they open and then i will catch a cab home and will talk to no one until I have finished the book.

What if it's longer than OOTP? You can't do it in one sitting if it is... can you? : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Roz December 22, 2004, 05:25:07 PM Blimey - it's Amazon number one selling product ALREADY
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : mcgonagall December 22, 2004, 05:31:03 PM I read OOTP in 4 hours and 23 minutes while in my room sitting on my waterbed ;DSo yeap will read it all in one asitting
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : MakTheYak December 22, 2004, 05:34:48 PM You are a quick reader. I mean REALLY quick! That's pretty impressive.
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : mcgonagall December 22, 2004, 05:45:39 PM I think that it was more that i got so involved in the book i just had to read every word
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : savage727 December 22, 2004, 06:07:35 PM Yea the announcement yesterday here about the next Harry Potter book is having the same reactions you all have been talking about - we want it earlier as well. The building up of excitement to the release of the book in July is going to be something to see with all the booksellers trying to out do one another. :) How soon do you think the book will be available on CD - at the same time of release as the book or after?
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : rns91294 December 22, 2004, 09:19:18 PM Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the Normal version and the Adult edition?
Oh, and it was on the news last night how it is a number one seller on Amazon already. : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : Roz December 22, 2004, 09:23:14 PM The cover!
The normal version of Goblet of fire looks like this (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0747550999.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) and the adult looks like this: (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0747574502.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) the text is the same. Officially it's so that adults can read HP on the train without looking silly, in reality it's so they can sell collectors two books ;) : Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : rns91294 December 22, 2004, 09:24:19 PM Got ya. So the US only has one version.
: Re:JK Update- HBP FINISHED! : blackcat20 December 23, 2004, 04:45:55 AM I read OOTP in 4 hours and 23 minutes while in my room sitting on my waterbed ;DSo yeap will read it all in one asitting I tried to limit myself to 200 pages a day, over 4 days. I figure with the long waits between books I had to drag it out as much as possible... ;D In other news, JK has updated the news and rumours sections of her website, with more info about the new book... |
