Maybe the buyer thought that $42.50 for a guaranteed costume was better than $60 for a box that could be a dud.
The seller's other auctions are all for guaranteed insert packs. Although, I have been outbid many a time by this person as well.

I did not know there were variations. It says neither hobby or retail on the pack. While it's technically true that there is nothing on the front of the packs that states hobby or retail, I'm a bit amazed that an established trading card seller wouldn't know that he ordered a retail box instead of a hobby box. : Re:guaranteed costume pack auction : rns91294 December 17, 2004, 10:55:32 PM And according to the picture, they are retail. My husband and I saw them at Suncoast Video and he thought they were hobby, as they are very similar. The only difference is what they say on the little scroll on the front of the pack. The retails tell you to look for Chase and Costume cards, but mention nothing of an autograph.
