: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Roz November 18, 2004, 07:19:45 PM You'd have to pre-register young Richard!
You do have a personalised Yak badge made though ;D and you'll have to wear it for sure! Thanks Olly this really is a fab offer! Who votes we make the yak shack the international card equivalent of a Blue Peter Badge offering deals etc to all members at any events we know people going to? Say - perhaps you need 50 or 100 posts and then you are entitled to a badge and all the Yak goodness that that implies ;) : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : mpcltd November 18, 2004, 07:34:12 PM Great Idea Roz
A Badge that gets you a discount at shows from Shackers Dealers? Who knows where the goodness will end! : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : ferdinand_the_yak November 18, 2004, 07:48:56 PM 50-100 posts? Isn't that a bit much? 8)
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : olly November 18, 2004, 07:51:31 PM 50-100 posts? Isn't that a bit much? 8) You might get there one day ::) ;D : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Roz November 18, 2004, 08:23:34 PM Great Idea Roz A Badge that gets you a discount at shows from Shackers Dealers? Who knows where the goodness will end! :D Cool. Even if it's a basic P1 promo or whatever, just to bring the Shackers over to the dealers stall for a good nosey at what they have for sale and a chat :) And everyone loves a free promo (or at least I do ;)) people who know me will know I'll be cheeky and ask for a free toploader too lol 50 posts is nothing to me FTY, I do that every day :P well, not quite but if you think it's too much, we can change it - I just thought that the Yak goodness could be spread to the big contributors, as offers like Olly's are very generous - he can't give out plates to everyone who ever visited The Yak Shack once :-[ : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : savage727 November 18, 2004, 08:40:41 PM That makes good sense Roz. I am glad to see Olly take the lead here and initiate this idea! :) Makes good business sense too!! :)
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : ferdinand_the_yak November 18, 2004, 09:18:15 PM Roz - I was just kidding :) Poking fun at myself and my posting habits - goodness me, I almost live on the shack! ;D

: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Accio Wealth November 19, 2004, 05:49:03 AM Is there much Potter merchandise at Memorabilia usually?
I went to Collectormania recently and was a bit disappointed really.(I'm not too big on LOTR) : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : samwise16 November 19, 2004, 05:53:42 AM Collectormania has the same dealers since c3 and most of them all crap, real crap, change over rated prices coz the tables cost a bomb, and the variaty is poor :-\
The guests however are..A* : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : olly November 19, 2004, 05:57:05 AM Is there much Potter merchandise at Memorabilia usually? I went to Collectormania recently and was a bit disappointed really.(I'm not too big on LOTR) Unfortunately I have yet to see a decent amount of Potter merchandise at any show. I don't think it has taken off as LOTR did. Mind you its about time. : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Accio Wealth November 19, 2004, 06:00:18 AM That's a shame really as there is some really nice stuff out there. :(
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : olly November 19, 2004, 06:04:17 AM Mind you the Noble Collection merchandise has just hit the UK and I have some coming which *should* arrive in time for Memorabilia.
So other dealers might have some. And I am sure HP POA Update cards will be aplenty! ;D : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Accio Wealth November 19, 2004, 06:10:29 AM How do card prices compare to EBay etc?
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : olly November 19, 2004, 06:19:35 AM Not sure, as its the first show since release.
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : abraxas November 19, 2004, 08:38:23 AM Just 50 posts!! And my server is going down in a few hours for the weekend. Okay I guess I chalk up another *freebie* I have no shot at. There are so many on the web now. **wooooooooooo**
I will just have to gain solace from the fact that it's warm and I dont need to own a winter wardrobe. **hoots happily** : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Roz November 19, 2004, 04:05:24 PM lol Abraxas since this is the first meeting I am sure we could bend the rules if you are coming. However this meeting is in the UK and please do correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you are up to flying all that way Pig. Especially if you have to carry your badge and plate back all the way to the USA.
Yes if you are coming and have less than 50 posts exceptions will be made for this fledgling meet :) : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : savage727 November 19, 2004, 06:52:24 PM Now that's what I call great customer service!! :)
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : MakTheYak November 19, 2004, 07:35:27 PM However this meeting is in the UK and please do correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you are up to flying all that way Pig. I really don't think you should be calling people 'Pig' without provokation, Roz! : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : abraxas November 20, 2004, 07:05:24 PM all the way to the USA. Mak *sir*!! I aint minding the Pig as it is short for pigwidgeon - and we are a downright cute genus - but as an Aussie I protest strongly at being sent to the USA!!! ... 'specially as summer is looming up hot and strong!! :-[ ps the Uni musta lied cause here I am .. flying in cyberspace **whoo hooo** : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Roz November 20, 2004, 09:00:41 PM Sorry Pig, totally forgot! :-\
Besides no-one in their right mind would do a PhD in the USA :P (just kidding but it does take 5 years (though I believe they do not insist on a Masters first...)) Humblest apologies! : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : MakTheYak November 22, 2004, 05:02:48 PM I know it's short for Pigwidgeon ;) I was just pulling Roz's leg :D
: Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : paxcards November 23, 2004, 12:16:26 AM How do you register to get a badge? Can you get one even if you cant make Memorabila?
And are they nice enamel badges (or the round tin kind?) ;) : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Roz November 23, 2004, 12:19:11 AM The plan is that we will do badges for everyone who has more than 50 posts in time.
Nah they are the cool 80s stylee badges we all wore on our bags at school - frankly - THEY ROCK! (although I haven't seen them in the flesh yet). All you need to do is to PM me and if you have a cartoon character of Mark's that you like you have to say so or you'll have a picture of a Yak on your badge :) For the moment - priority goes to people going to memorabilia but do let us know if you want one and we'll put you on our "to do" list :D : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : kbmum November 23, 2004, 12:25:52 AM Besides no-one in their right mind would do a PhD in the USA :P (just kidding but it does take 5 years (though I believe they do not insist on a Masters first...) Generally speaking, most PhDs in the US take four years to complete (depends upon the university and program, though). If a student does not have a master's when entering the program, he/she will usually earn one after two years, then continue working toward the doctorate. If the student does have a master's degree, then it may take 2-3 years to earn a PhD. At least that's how it worked for most of the people I know who earned a PhD. :) : Re:Memorabilia Yak Shack Meeting - BONUS : Roz November 23, 2004, 12:57:22 AM lol I was taking the world of some Harvard junkie on this :P (explaining why he had abandoned his home of New England for the old one :)
He'd done a masters I think... I think it's increasingly moving to everyone who does a PhD has to have a Masters... well it's getting there by a softly softly approach - you don't get a scholarship and funding if you don't have a masters in the UK so it's pretty much a non starter! Unless your parents are multi millionnaires of course... last time I checked mine definitely weren't :P :) |
