It's not illustrated with pictures of our heroes (thank goodness) but rather with the pictures of the churches and paintings they refer to as you are taken through the story!!!

However, I am dying to read Angels and Demons next and it looks like they are publishing an illustrated version of that one in the States... (not the UK yet - this is all topsey turvey) ... and not until May 2005

So alas, since the second one is not yet published... I will have to read the normal one and trawl the net for the pictures :)

I can't wait until they do the illustrated Angels and Demons edition - while I love both books, I may be leaning ever-so-slightly to Angels and Demons, but it's a very fine balance! Lets hope if they end up doing the movie(s), they do it justice! Though some scenes for Angels and Demons might be difficult to shoot - all the Vatican scenes and especially the site of the grande finale! I won't spoil the end, but when you read it you will know what I mean! Da Vinci Code might be tricky as well :)

Half Life 2! For those of you who haven't bought it - it sounds like you should... it's not my bag so much as I am no good at that sort of game but the graphics look phenomenal - even the water don't look half bad!

Yes he has done an appearance once to my knowlege here in New Hampshire about 6 months ago.  Unfortunately that was before any of you had read his books!

Thanks for posting the link as this is the first news I have heard that The DiVinci Code is going to be made into a movie!!  Yea!!  8)

Tom Hanks is a good choice but I agree that there are many other actors who can portray Robert Langdon.  I like Russel Crowe, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, Hugh Jackman, and even Viggo Mortensen!   :)

I agree - I would love to see Hugh Jackman do it! George Clooney would be good as well :)

If they start filming next year, what do you think a probable release date would be? Late 2005? Early 2006? ???

Imagine if they did a movie of Angels and Demons! That would be very difficult to do - the grand finale especially - you know what I mean Ed :)

I think the film will be out depending when they start filming either during the Holiday season from November
2005 or again the Holiday season in 2006.  That is my guess.

Well as you know FTK amazing things can now be done with computer graphics so if enough energy and thought went into it I think it could be accopmlished.  Imagine the publicity for the Vatican if they allowed some discreet filming to be done there!   :)

But do you think they would though? Most of those places are highly sacred - only the Pope is allowed access to some! :o

The areas that are sacred and specific to the Pope - no I do not think any filming would be allowed there - that is where the special effects, models, and computer graphics come in a la Weta!   :)

But how would they know what it looks like? I think they might change those areas - nothing a little plot tweak couldn't take care of!

You would be amazed what satellite photos reveal and they are available commercially.  I do not think a film studio would have any problems obtaining the layout needed.

I don't know if you saw my post on the Secret Santa thread but Roz is reading Angels & Demons as I type this.  Mark surprised her tonight with Dan Brown's 4 pack of books so I won't be surprised if she does not get any sleep tonight!   :)

I mean INSIDE the Vatican :) (must... resist...urge to reveal... end of story - Roz would kill usss!)

There were also all the 'unravelling the Da Vinci Code' and 'Exposing the myth' books as well - they will be interesting to read, basically they try to expose Dan Brown and is reseach on the books as fraud

Hmmm.... :-\ I'm intrigued to hear what they have to say, as obviously the ideas that he has in his books are pretty controversial and there are always 2 sides of the story :)

Those books do sound interesting FTY.   :)  I went to my local library yesterday afternoon to return a book when I saw a copy of Angels & Demons on CD.  I took it out and it has 16 CD's and is the unabridged reading of the book!   :)  I will be listening to this one for the next several weeks!!   :)

Ok so I have finished reading both Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code......

Is it horrible to say that I actually liked Angels & Demons better than The DV code? I found A&D a lot more interesting and action-packed...I dont know why The DV Code is more popular really...........even though it was a great story too, I just liked A&D better, and I loved Vittoria in A&D as opposed to Sophie, she was just more likable....

I found Sophie easier to empathise with :) But I admit I read the Da Vinchi Code first... I wonder if this skews your thoughts - because FTY likes A&D more and she read that one first too!

I agree with Trey and FTY as I too loved Angels & Demons.  I like it much better than the Code.  In fact I read The DaVinci Code first and enjoyed it and saw on the inside cover what other books Dan wrote.  I saw that Angels & Demons was the first book with the character Robert Langdon so I had to get it and after reading both I agree that A&D's should have received more credit.   :)  

Oh well fine it's just me and my Mum in a small Da Vinchi adoration club on our own!

Just! Only just! It's a close call. I read A&D first as recommended by Ed and I'm glad I did, but I don't thik that it would have skewed my opinions on the books no matter which order I read them in. Both of them are fantastic, but IMO Angels and Demons just pips Da Vinci Code at the post :)

Don't get me wrong, I did like the Da Vinci Code too and I found myself researching Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' and looking for certain...erm people, and hand gestures (I dont want to give much away for those who havent read it) but I just thought A&D was soo much more interesting and there were quite a few twists at the end too, not to mention the four 'quests' throughout the book...

I have started Deception Point today....I only read on the train to and from work so I dont know when I will have it finished but I will post my thoughts again and see if anyone else agrees with me ( I will try not to stur things up!)

How''s DP, I'm moving onto that one ASAP

DP is quite good, and not like the last couple I have read (DVC and A&D) less simbology stuff but still twists in the story and a good read, but I am reaching the end and it is all hitting a climax so it could prove to be fantastic or a little disappointing...something tells me though that it might be quite good!

Without any spoilers - it is quite good :)

Well I finished Deception Point and I have to say that I thought it was another Dan Brown hit  :) Characters were very likeable, and the storyline was excellent and kept you intrigued until the very end!! The ending was good and you got all the answers to your questions at the end. Great twists, I loved it!!

I am going to start Digital Fortress soon... ;D

Well I have finished Digital Fortress and I have to say, it is my least favourite out of the four. Im not saying it was bad, but it wasn't as  exciting or intriguing as the last three I have read.

The characters of Susan and David are great, they connect with the audience a lot but I just found it a bit dull. David's adventure was good but it dragged a bit with the whole story being in the NSA.......hmm well that is just my opinion but I still liked it all the same.....and what the hell is that code at the end? I was lost there....
