: Bridget Jones and the Edge of Reason
: ferdinand_the_yak November 12, 2004, 05:43:05 PM
I went in with high expectations - loved the books and the first movie. I have to say it was very enjoyable and hilarious - I was laughing out loud for most of it - note the scene where Mark and Daniel have another fight about Bridget - its funnier than the first one! And some of the things that come out of Daniel Cleaver's mouth really should not be allowed... makes you almost feel sorry fo the guy ;)

I highly recommend it, though for people that have read the book, its rather different, there is a bit of a plot twist at the end that just made me think 'What!?!'.

All in all, a very entertaining film!

 ;D

I totally agree. I really enjoyed the first film and loved this one even more.  The fight scene was great--I was laughing so hard!! It was classic.
These movies were so well cast. I'm not always a big fan of Renee Z (I think she's way overated in some films) but she is perfect here. She is Bridget.
And Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Perfect, again. Love them both :-*
And yeah, the plot twist is definitely one that no one will be expecting. I had the same reaction "huh"?
It was very funny and quite enjoyable. My friend and I found it to be just what we needed as a break from out studies.

Funny you should say that, I went and saw it with my friend last night after we both finished exams that day! So it was a nice break for us both from our studies too :)

I agree - Renee IS bridget and Colin and Hugh are just... well... :-*

Nothing else to be said really ;)

Ooh - got the DVD yesterday and fans of the book will love it - in one of the special features , as per the book, BRIDGET DOES AN INTERVIEW WITH COLIN FIRTH (with just the odd mention of the white wet shirt from Pride and Prejudice ;))

The special features are succint and brilliant and actually are the things you want to watch... it MUST be in your DVD collection (or borrowed from a friend... I don't mind).

OMG! I am really looking forward to this coming out on DVD - its as good as sold for me... I have cleared out room for it next to my first BJD DVD already ;)

I can't wait to see the interview with Colin Firth! ;D

:) and they have given 1 million quid to the Tsunami appeal - he hee - how stupid do you think we are - it says "this film was filmed BEFORE the Tsunami disaster... now think about it - it was in cinemas before the disaster  ::)

What other special features are there? They have a discussion of the fight scene :) and how they loved to make it "namby pamby" - Huge and Colin apparently are at loggerheads in real life (in a fun way) as in the movie - Huge says

"the problem with the film was that whilst Renee was not putting on enough weight Colin was putting on too much" etc etc - really fun teasing :D

Great stuff

Got mine a few days ago, and watched it tonight. Thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the fight scenes. I've gotta agree with FTY though, where did that twist come from??  :o
