Thanks. This was really kind of weird. I decided to go to the price list and see what would be the best card i could pull from MM, since they having been sitting around for awhile and i didn't remember what cards were in the set. I decided since i had a chance at a Hermione auto i would just go ahead and open the box. What a pleasant surprise, i think this is the best card i have ever pulled and will be holding on to it. dave

Oh, what a fantastic pull, congrats! I have opened a lot of cases in all the Potter sets meanwhile, but never found such a valuable card ... :'( But maybe i'll get something similar in the Phoenix set, still hoping ...

Sorry to hear about your dud box too sfmuggle. . I've had a few of them myself so i know how you feel. But, like you said, it's half the fun isn't it. Not knowing what's going to be (or not) inside that box!. Funnily enough my first ever sealed Memorable Moments hobby box arrived this morning. Because i've never had one before, i'm really excited about opening it.

Not knowing is, indeed, part of the fun. However, I still say you spend that much money, particularly on a "special" edition, and it is inexcusable to have a dud box. I think they have worked to rectify that problem since then, though. Having said that, I do like to receive boxes for the Holidays or birthdays because it's like a gift within a gift--the box itself is one present, then you have about two additional presents insides the box.

They did a good job with OoTP but I don't have nearly enough experience with the other sets (have only opened a little here and there). I completely agree about receiving boxes as a gift - hmmm ... food for thought. x-mas is coming up

I completely agree about receiving boxes as a gift - hmmm ... food for thought. x-mas is coming up My local store got MM back in stock again and I had some initial reservations about cracking packs (given my dud box last time). Alas! I gave into temptation and started opening. Initially didn't look too good but then pulled a Lucius Malfoy auto, which works out for me because I keep getting outbid on eBay for this exact card. Ahhhh, my faith has been restored

Question!
How much would someone pay for a box now? I see one on e-bay for $90 starting, but having seen the replies about dud boxes, I'm a little unsure about paying that much. :S

The price varies based on whether it's a regular box or a black resin box. The regular box is now around $100. The resin boxes tend to sell for more. I think one of them recently sold for $128. This set had dud boxes and single premium insert boxes. My two boxes yielded only one high-numbered costume card each. They definitely were not worth the money. Other people had great pulls, so I guess whether to buy a box depends on how lucky you feel.

I agree w/ Cindy, depends upon how you (or how lucky you) feel about it. I'm one of those people who have had two dud boxes and several one insert boxes. It's a bit unfortunate when one runs across one (a dud box) b/c the boxes aren't exactly cheap. For me at least, I really like the cards b/c they're different.
