I purchased 2 UK promos on ebay for The Golden Compass. They arrived today, but neither are in stellar shape. One has a lot of wear on the bottom and the other one has two very dinged corners.  On the NSU board, Darren said only 500 cards were made and they were exclusively distributed at the London Toy Fair.  I don't know if I should ask for a full refund or send one back and ask for a half refund or what....I paid a lot for these two cards. Any advice? Ebay!

hmmm ... well it's hard to know what to say on this one ...
I think you definitely need to contact the seller and say that you're very unhappy with the poor condition of these promos now that you have them in hand.
Their condition wasn't mentioned or not obvious from the auction description or photo either, so that would give you grounds for complaining and getting some kind of recompense for the money you paid for them.
Have a go at contacting previous buyers of these promos too to see what condition there cards were in when they received them - auctions: 230125603047 sold to kevworboys, 230115501165 sold to johnlevitt1
The thing is, if you return both promos and ask for a full refund, then you know very well this seller will then offer them as second-chances to the next highest bidder which is a bit naff considering their less-than-ideal condition.
I don't know if this seller has any more of these promos they intend selling or that they could send as replacements to you Eve, but there again would you want more cards from this person?
I think you're going to have to play it by ear and see what they say when you tell them you're dissatisfied with the cards - if they're awkward then you could always open a dispute on the grounds that the cards you received weren't described accurately (the 'Item received not as described' option) and push for a refund that way.
It all depends on how badly you want the promos, but you do want some money back from them whatever else happens. Wink

You could also try to contact Cards Inc. and ask if they can exchange the cards for ones that are in better condition.

Here's a photo of the card I'm most unhappy with.  The other one I can live with - dinged corners and all, but I don't know about this one.

Well, the seller came through and gave me a 50% refund for the card I was unhappy with.  Diplomacy works. Smiley
