Poor John. Your archnemesis strikes again. I love it when a winner (especially fantale7) pays big. He ran me up several times. I was hoping he was going big. Whew! "I want to see some PUNISHMENT!" Truth is, I would have happily paid my bid for the card. It's a great example. Best that I've seen. But ye 'ole fantale7 wasn't going to get it cheaply.

I wanted this card soooo bad. It was perfect with my Viktor card. Haha, my hope was lost when it surpassed its first thousand. $2,125 for a card, my goodness!!! I think this wand might still have some story to tell who knows?? Let's hope 'bird head' Jon doesn't see this or his resolve might crack  Hah, this auction makes me wonder just how much I may fetch for mine. I'm really sorry to say it, but after seeing this, I'm starting to consider letting mine go. Im only 17 and I could really use that money towards more benificial things. Hmmm. Haha, I know if I were to ever sell it, I would probably beat myself up in the future, just for the sole fact that I would have sold an extremely unique piece of Harry Potter memorabilia, a "1 of 1" sort of thing. Who knows? I'll most likely keep it. So this fantale7, has anyone ever seen their collection? Im sure it is quite magnifient. I wonder what they do with all the cards? Displays perhaps?

Don't question our madness... we really don't like it - it's so hard to justify Jon quite a lot of people on this forum have some really exceptional collections, I wouldn't like to name names, as it's their own business but if you read around the board and check out the 'my new card' sections you'll get some idea.

I have sent cards before overseas via Global Priority that can be tracked for about 10-12 U.S. dollars with the flat rate envelopes, but they weren't insured though. Global Express however is much more pricey, but i've experienced that Global Priority is really reliable and pretty quick as well!
I personally love Global Priority and it is much cheaper than Express, but I argued on the phone with a PayPal rep about this very subject - they said they will NOT accept the Global Priority number as proof. I guess the number doesn't go under the same scrutiny as the Express one? Was I given misinformation? Have other people spoken with PayPal about this? I would love to find out in case I was told wrong. I really don't want to force people to use Global Express if I can help it. It's way too pricey. - Greg

Wow, I am still in shock over the end price! At least it makes me feel a little better about selling it now though. Like I said on one of my first posts, I have decided to just stick with the auto cards. I can't imagine all the other expensive cards I would have still needed if I continued in the costume and prop card areas (like the other 3 wand cards from GoFU, for instance). - Greg

The US Post Office will not provide tracking or insurance for Global Priority and Airmail Letter Post. You can get those services only with Global Express and Airmail Parcel Post, both of which are expensive. I called the 800 number for the Post Office to ask about this and was told the Global Priority and Airmail Letter Post are basically document delivery services, even though you can ship small/lightweight items. Since the post office considers that "paper" has no value, it won't allow tracking and insurance for those shipping methods. Last week, I used PayPal to pay for Global Priority shipping to Canada (it was a variable weight package). I was shocked to see that tracking info was generated based on the label number. It said that the package left the country through O'Hare in Chicago and gave a date and time. I think that's as far as the tracking will go, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. If it does end up tracking through to delivery, I'll ship all of my overseas packages that way.

Cindy - you could always try tracking it through the Canadian Post website - I know that once Royal Mail parcels dissappear off the radar on our site I can use USPS sometimes.

Up to about 6-8 weeks ago I could track anything I sent via AirMail, Global Priority, or Registered Mail via the various tracking numbers (customs forms or labels). The USPS now only shows that they were accepted (they did show date/time/location they left the country) & I was told that it's done that way now for security purposes (though occasionally the full tracking information will show up once a package has been received at the destination & scanned in). As far as Roz's suggestion about using Royal Mail to track, when I last tried it (for a Registered package) I was given the information that because it didn't originate with Royal Mail it wasn't trackable... I've not tried the Canada Post website for tracking, but I'll give it a try today. Bottom line - the USPS is WAY behind the times & needs to upgrade...

That's strange. I sent a light package to Germany via Airmail Letter Post in May. The item got lost along the way and took something like 10 weeks to be delivered, but of course I had already refunded the buyer long before then (what an honest buyer to tell me he finally received it and then paid for it again ). I spoke with both my local post office and the main customer service office numerous times, and was told every time that there was no tracking available for Airmail Letter Post, other than acknowledgement that the item had been accepted at my local post office.

It depends what you are sending but quite a lot of US parcels arrive here by parcelforce. www.parcelforce.co.uk - even relatively small parcels! So try their site - you will need to tick the box that says "incoming international parcel" because when it arrives in the UK it's given a British tracking number

If there ends up being proof of delivery with that number, I will definitely go back to PayPal and raise a stink about it. Of course, that doesn't help me on the current auctions... - Greg

I'll keep trying with other numbers as I send them out.

Can I ask what is wrong with sending the items Registerd Post? this costs about $7.50 on top of a normal letter rate, it goes to most countries (with a few exceptions) and provides insurance http://www.usps.com/global/intlspecialservices.htmGives all the details there. De Orc

It isn't that a great a service. For $7.90, the package is insured only up to $44.86. Then there's this little clause:
Effective January 2006 the addressee is the payee on claims for registered letter-post items delivered in damaged condition or with contents missing, if addressee accepts delivery of the item. If addressee waives their right to payment, in writing, or the item is returned to sender, the sender then is eligible to file a claim.
The person who receives the package has to file the claim with USPS, not the sender. I think most overseas buyers wouldn't want to be bothered filing a claim with a foreign post office and then wait months to get their money back. And certainly, if someone is trying to defraud a seller, they aren't going to take the time to waive their right to payment, in writing. They'd just file a claim with PayPal.
