Just seen some new trailers on the tv and through BBC interviews with some of the stars over the weekend and feel this could be the ultimate Superman film made to date, just looks stunning. Also feel that Brandon Routh does have some rather chilling similarities with the late Christopher Reeves in his manarisims and when he wears the Clark KEnt glasses.

Cheers

This does look like a great film, I am a big fan of Superman. Even the last two which had bad reviews I thought where quite good.

This film has bad great reviews so it should be good Smiley

From what I've seen, the movie has received mostly good to excellent reviews.

I caught Superman Returns last night and walked out with very mixed feelings.  I don't want to give anything away (and a word to all DON'T READ THE CRITICS' REVIEWS - nearly all of them give some main plot points away).  There were a few things that caught me entirely by surprise and I thought the general tone of the movie was on a much grander scale than I would have expected.

Anyone else that saw this and have any opinions?  I'd really like to discuss some of the more *Spoilerific* details.

My thoughts - Totally awesome aside from a few minor gripings.  They really put in some great tidbits for the fanboys (Great Caesar's Ghost!).  I loved that it was made to be a direct sequel to Superman 2 and that many references were made to the first two films.

All in all I would give it 3 Cap'n out of  Cap'n

I guess I won't be getting many replies to my previous post for awhile.  I had the date June 28th burned so deep into my mind, I nearly forgot that they staggered the release dates like that.  Well, I look forward to talking to everyone about it as soon you see it!  It is definetly worth the wait!

I don't want to be a kill joy here but we in UK are still having to wait a few more weeks for the release of this film so could people be sensitive to our needs and not give too much away  so cant wait for it to be released why it couldnt be a dual release I will never know!!!

Paul, if you don't want spoilers, I'd personally not read ANYTHING about the movie until I'd seen it.

Because I don't care & have zero plans to see it I've already read a ton of reviews and finally found "the big" spoiler, which didn't seem like a big deal to me...

It's safe to assume that if there's a thread about a movie, it will contain spoilers.  For that matter, the base sets that are released before the movie have spoilers, too.

I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was FANTASTIC!!  Grin

It fit in perfectly after the second movie...and Brandon Routh was a standout as Superman/Clark Kent. He was second to Reeve of course who was the best and in my opinion always will be, but he had that same charisma, and very similar looks. The rest of the cast I think were very good as well, Kevin Spacey was an excellent Lex Luthor.

All in all a very good movie, the script was good, the effects were even better and I will give it  Cap'n  Cap'n  Cap'n  Cap'n  Crewman .....yes it was that good!

Personally I think it blows Batman Begins out of the water...although that may be biased as I have always been more of a Superman fan!

We saw Superman Returns yesterday and loved the movie.  I agree with all the points Trey made except that I loved Batman Begins as well and would not put Superman over it.   Smiley

I have seen the movie two times now, and my ONLY complaint is Spacey as Lex...I am not saying he does not do a great job, he just seemed a little flat the whole film (other than the one scene with Lois Lane you see in the trailer....WROOOOONG!!!!!) also, his "Goons" all kind of suck lol. I mean come on...Kitty? Who didn't see what happens with her coming from the beginging.

Everything else though was spectacular, and I must say Brandon Routh REALLY put me in my place. I had my doubts about him but he was just spectacular.
I hope Singer desides to make at least one more Superman...and PLEASE PLEASE give me a new Villian!! Doomsday or Brainiac...or hell, a Bizarro Superman!

I loved this. I had very low expectations of it, I have no idea why. I hadn't read any critics reviews, but I've never watched smallville or any of those things, I haven't even seen the previous movies.

I give it 4 and a half pirates beards out of five.

Top stuff. I think a lot of it can be put down to an excellent cast and the magical touch of Singer.
