Okay, let me fall into CS Rep mode for a second

blech, blech, ahem
Every registered dealer and distributor was notified of this program weeks ago - almost immediately after the product's release they were told to contact all of their customers (distributors as well) and to let them know about the redemption-style program. We also posted a message on our bulletin board on February 23rd where we notified everyone to save the UPC symbols (can't say code cause Roz'll tease me!). So between the emails to every dealer and distributor and the posting on our website almost a month ago, as well as me posting here and on CardTalk and on several other private forums - we really did try to let everyone know.
Having said that, I'm sure not every dealer or distributor notified their clientele, which is why we resorted to forum postings and website notices.
Onto the issue of the Universal Product Code (UPC) - it is not box specific. It is product specific, so that every box of Stargate Season 8 has the same code.
Why do we need the codes? To prove that you have the box.
Why not send you the receipt or Paypal invoice? Because then you could send the receipt and your friend send the code and you'd end up with 2 cards.
Why not sent the Box number? Because our boxes are generally numbered similarly - for example, we've had several 6000 box runs, so your sticker could say 4123/6000 but it came from Bond or Trek, not Stargate.
This is why the UPC symbol is the only thing we can use to prove ownership and entitlement. Sorry!!!
I realize it's not a perfect situation, but we really are trying to do the best we can. And I am the poor slob who'll be in charge of distributing the suckers

So I'm suffering right there along with y'all
