Oh my goodness... I can scarce believe it!

Do you think they are really putting it to rest - or like "The End" Bear from the Beanie guys will it carry on? The LOTR line is still relatively strong although I have noticed diminishing interest over the last few months.

The Mumakil is a dream come true statue to me - I'm so excited Smiley

I think it really is the end. lol Roz how awesome does the Mumak look? The final pieces rock IMO. I can understand people's disappointments for not getting their Faramir's or Denethor's but you cant please everyone and all the people saying: Oh but I wanted the eagles and I wanted Faramir then I would be happy. " yeah right you would.  Angry When is enough really enough for some?
I feel perfectly content with how it has ended. Sideshow and WETA did a top notch job in bringing some brilliant pieces to us. I nearly got my head blown off on another forum for stating my opinions about all this so glad I can do so freely here...I hope.  Undecided  Tongue

I think there really has been a wonderful wealth of options to choose from Smiley I'm still dying to see Aragorn on Brego I must admit, although I really am surprise they aren't renewing their license because it really has been life-giving to sideshow but we shall have to wait and see what they are moving on to Smiley

Yeah i cant wait to see Aragorn on Brego. Im sure it will be wonderful.
Ok I admit I was a bit surprised that we arent getting a Faramir. I really would have loved a Faramir in ranger's outfit but oh well.  Undecided Denethor I wouldnt have thought would be made anway because Im not sure he would appeal to the masses. Barad-Dur I thought was a given because of Orthanc but it was probably not produced due to the complexity of the design. Eagles - no way. We already have Gwaihir in the plaque.
All I am saying is yes, it would have been good if we got a piece or two of more important characters such as Faramir and Eomer on Firefoot rather than generic ones. eg. Orc Brute, Berserker, Wounded Orc bust etc. But on the other hand WETA have given us many pieces we as fans pleaded for eg. the Mumak, King of the Dead etc. So I think we should be pleased that they listened and squeezed in some beautiful pieces for us before the end of the line. The last thing I wanted to hear was a bunch of ingrates crying about how they didnt get what they wanted. Because they only focused on what wasnt produced and that made me quite upset.
Hope everyone can sort of see where I am coming from now.  Embarrassed

The Peter Jackson one is awesome...I've been wondering when they would announce it.
I don't remember the other two as well but the mumak one is an amazing piece, very detailed.
Interesting that they are stopping now though.

I am not surprised at all by this announcement as it reinforces my thoughts that interest in LOTR's overall has ended except with the very small minority of avid LOTR's lovers like many of us here on The Forum.  I have serious doubts that Topps will produce the next set of LOTR's cards as talked about on The Forum in another thread.  I agree that Sideshow missed the boat on many of the pieces they put out.  The Weapon Sets did not sell very well except the first two that sold out.  The Helms did not do much better either.  I never liked the busts and did not buy a single one.  I did purchase the Gandalf the Grey, Boromir, Aragorn, and King Elessar statues and love them.  I also have the Weapons of Aragorn and Weapons of The Fellowship Set 2.  I purchased the Mines of Moria, Golden Hall, and the Helm's Deep Environments and think they are very well done.  I have preorders in on the Weathertop Environment and Aragorn on Brego Statue.

I also wanted a Faramir and Eomer statue and do not understand why Sideshow did not make those instead of or before many of the other products they released.  I am very pleased with the quality of all my pieces and will miss Sideshow making more LOTR's statues and environments.

Well the odd thing about the LOTR set is that Topps paid to renew their license for LOTR last November... and whilst they may have purchased the license to "sit on" and protect their previous card releases I really would be surprised if they didn't do ANYTHING with it when you consider how much money they must have had to put up for it

I have to admit that I was actually sadden when I received the newsletter. Next to the Topps Lotr card franchise, this is the next largest part of my LOTR collection. There have been many great items released to date: The Cave Troll, the Original Balrog, the Ringwraith on Steed, Aragorn, The Witchking's in all forms.....and so on. Hopefully when PJ ever gets around to making The Hobbit, Sideshow will do some statues for that............can you just imagine.........Smaug in all his GLORY!!!!
