You make a great point, even distributors get the incentive cards also, but how many distributors are going to stock 50 cases after most were stuck with Update cases.  My local dealer had one of his distributors offering him cases of Update for $320 just to get rid of them.

I think artbox seems to forget about the little buyers.

True - but perhaps they feel right now that they have to make up for how bad the last set was for the big buyers! THe little buyers didn't lose £10,000 the big buyers lost that and more

I can off the top of my head think of 3 dealers - 2 US and one UK which will be getting 50 case incentives a plenty

In my opinion, a 50 case card is just Artbox being greedy!

& as this card will only be available to dealers, lowering the number of people going to by the set.
As for example someone buys 35 cases and thinks great Im going to get a 25 case card and a 10 case card! So I have a chance of a master set.

They Artbox say theres a 50 case card, so they think i'll have to buy another 15 cases that I can't afford to get a master set.

If this person is collecting to get a master set, they could think whats the point of getting the 35 cases when I wont even have a chance at a master set  Huh

So they might not get any cases in the end!

Thats what i think!

That's true, but since Artbox is sold out, dealers can't add to their orders.  I don't know if they can cancel their orders at this point, either.

Where it might make a difference is with the next release.

I just can't get my head around 50 cases. For A SINGLE CARD. I thought the 25 case Pear Tree was over the top. Geez Tongue

So if say, one case cost, for the sake of argument, $525 (from one dealer I have heard of). You'd be looking to spend about $26 250 to get this incentive. Granted, dealers would pay less for these, and I have no idea how much they pay for cases from the manufacturers, but I still can't see it being less than $20 000 that they have to fork out. For the dealer to make a profit or at least break even, they would either sell the incentive card and/or hope that they had some damn good inserts in those 50 cases to sell.

How many people could afford to buy this incentive?

Well, I think that they OUGHT to go ahead and make a 50 case incentive card for those who buy 50 cases as a guarentee it  to them.

HOWEVER. I think they should make triple the number of cards per case incentive.
Here's what I getting at, let's say there are 10,000 boxes = 1000 cases divide by 50 = 20. (x3 = 60) oops--DUH!

Now everyone who buys 50 cases gets one card. That leaves 40 cards to be inserted into hot boxes, (Let's say 20 hot boxes, if they do them), and  the other 20 randomly inserted into the 9980 non hot boxes.

9980 divide by 20 = 1 per 499 boxes,  Still terrible but a LOT better odds than ZERO.  Undecided

What will this do---- only make sure that the set is totally sold out and make the collectors want more.

More important, it doesn't leave the average working person with a feeling of hopelessness and feel like saying "nasty"    Lips Sealed  things to artbox (after burning all of their cards and boycotting ARTBOX).  Roll Eyes

Following this plan to a logical conclusion, ARTBOX would apply the same rules to the 25 and 10 case incentive cards. I don't think it would lower the value of the cards because the number of collectors would grow. Fair is fair.  Smiley

At least then we all get a chance of some great  cards and we all swim in the same pool.

I wonder if ARTBOX has ever heard the story about "killing the goose that lays the golden egg"?
There are still five more possible sets for them to generate a lot of profit from.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth.

I redid my calculations. My arithmetic is as good as my spelling.  Tongue

HOWEVER. I think they should make double the number of cards per case incentive.
Here's what I getting at, let's say there are 10,000 boxes = 1000 cases divide by 50 = 200.

Hi,

i tried to understand your calculation, but i didn't.  :'(

You say "Double the number of cards per case incentive".

Beginning with your calculation of 1000 cases divide by 50 we have 20 case incentive cards. Double the number means 40 cards. 20 cards are case incentive, so let's say 10 cards for hotboxes and 10 cards for the rest of the 9900 boxes. This would be a calculation that i understand if you talk about doubling the number of case incentives.  Roll Eyes

This is nuts! The price of that card is going to be ridiculous. You would be better off going to an auction house and bidding on a real prop. You could probably buy an animatronic Hedwig for a tenth of the price. Anyone who knows how the movies work will know most delicate props are duplicated, especially paper ones. This is done just in case the item gets ripped during shooting - it would cost thousands waiting for another one to be made. How do you know this piece of paper was even in the film!

Artbox have lived up to their poor reputation yet again. If collectors don't have at least a one million-to-one chance of completing a set over a lifetime they tend to give up and move on.

I wish... hotboxes would have been a great incentive to help move the PoA update cases... I don't think they'll have a problem with this set though - all sold out! Cool

Even a few multi insert boxes (boxes with a few extra inserts) would have been cool! Or auto/prop/costume master set boxes!

Shall we make bets on how high the 9 3/4 card will go? Me: $5000. Unlike the Pear tree, it actually was a significant and noteworthy prop.

It may go higher than the Pear Tree if there are less than 30 cards, but i wouldn't understand any price above $3000. And if this card is limited to 30 cards too, it should not be sold above $2500. Okay, the prop is more significant, but the rarity is the main factor for a price, or not? Cards with the same rarity should be sold for nearly the same price. I think at the moment, the market will show this and there won't be a big difference.

Well, good point. Smiley

But it's interesting that the Pear Tree Leaves won't be sold at the moment for a price higher than the average. So maybe it will be the same with the ticket and everyone will compare it with the prices of the Pear Tree Leaves. Well, I'll hope so.  Roll Eyes

I disagree on this point.  Take for example the three POAU costumes numbered to 628, all three average prices are different.  The Pink Top is one of the the most coveted costumes in the whole set, followed by the Dual Quidditch Robes and lastly Draco's Robe.  If what you say is true about the rarity of the card should determine the price, why aren't the prices of these 3 cards the same?

The price is also determined by the popularity of the card or character.  Look at the filmcards.  Some go for a lot of money because of the character on the front and the images in the cells.
