Ebay! has bought in some new rules so we wont be stung by -ve feedback...

1. Neutralising feedback left by members who don't participate in issue resolution processes
2. Removing feedback from members who are indefinitely suspended within 90 days of registration
3. Requiring new members to complete a tutorial before leaving neutral or negative feedback

I read that too ... about time they did this though I'm not too sure when it will be implemented.

I've also noticed that the 'My Messages' feature is coming into it's own too.
You can send messages to other ebay members and keep copies in your outbox to view later on. I think this will be very useful when transactions don't quite go to plan, because you can prove to eBay easily that you've contacted the other party if you do it by this route but it also means you have to be extra careful about what you write too.
I hate leaving -ve feedback and only do it as a last resort when all else has failed ... the same goes with neutrals .. so I doubt it will make much impact on how I use eBay in the future.
I'd probably be singing a totally different tune if I was selling though ... Wink

IMHO I think that's great - people starting out just don't know how it works, I have a neutral that says something like

"Cheque sent (date)"

That's no good - a scar on my record for nothing!

Wonder if you can get that one erased? Undecided

I remember being very apprehensive when I first started out on Ebay! because of the feedback thing and it took me ages to really feel comfortable with it.
A lot of what I leave sounds very similar, but to be fair to those I've bought from ... the transactions did  go well and their items were exactly as described and I was very pleased with them. Wink
I also do my background homework on the things I'm interested in and the sellers feedback rating and how they respond to what is left for them ... as I've gained more experience I've taken the odd chance on sellers whose feedback hasn't been too fantastic ~ once or twice I've thought .. jeez I'm glad I didn't spend too much with them cos they were awful ... and others have been great to deal with and no probs at all.
The 80 character limit doesn't leave much scope to say what you would like to so I usually send an email on receipt letting them know their goods have arrived and also to thank them properly. Grin

Working to the old adage seems the best to me ... "Treat others how you'd like to be treated yourself". Cool

Would #1 apply to this situation.  I made a purchase (I may be posting this in its own thread next week) of a trivia game.  The description said 'I think everything is there, it looks new'.  Well, I got the item and it is missing ALL trivia questions (you can't play a trivia game without the questions). She also notes she will not refund just because you do not like the item.   I have been emailing the seller, with no response starting Tuesday.  I started to look at the feedback the seller left for others, and it seems that everyone who left a negative or neatrul, she would leave the same.  I saw many buyers come back to the feedback saying thing slike "numerous emails sent with no response".  I am going to call her over the weekend maybe, but if I end up having to go through PayPal to get my money back, and she leaves me a negative and tries to say I rushed to PayPal (as I see she said to someone before), is this something eBay would now maybe remove since the seller didn't bother to get back to me when I tried to resolve it with them directly?  It doesn't seem fair if I paid immediately to get a negative just because they sent me a trivia game without questions, and then never responded to my concerns.  And I am also afraid to give a negative because I know she will do the same for me!!!  It seems that is the only time she responds to anyone!!

Or is this only for, say, a buyer who leaves a negative without trying to solve the problem with the seller first?

Please keep in mind that this is only if I do not hear back from her and this ends up happening.

And does anyone know how long it takes for PayPal to refund you if you file a complaint?

I think the issue resolution process is the one you do through eBay and/or PayPal.  There's more info here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/inr-snad-process.html

It says that if an item was paid through PayPal, then the buyer will be referred to PayPal to resolve the dispute.

When you file for a refund through Paypal, the seller has 10 days to respond.  If they don't respond, Paypal refunds you the money.  If they do respond, I think it's kind of a mediated thing, but not sure.

I would be surprised if my seller actually responded to the PayPal email (she might, but she sure is avoiding mine).  But if I do this, and she does respond to them, it is either that she will refund me (or work something out) or ignore the emails and I will get refunded anyway.  I just can't believe she has ignored me for 4 days already.  Also scks that they have 10 days to respond to PayPal. I really want to get another trivia game (with the questions) but really don't want to until I get my money back from this one.

She noted in her description "I think everything is there, it appears new", kind of to cover herself, but the next line says something about it being a trivia game with trivial questions....... yet, there were NO trivia questions with it, so I hope PayPal would still recognize this as significantly different as described.  She also put a note in there that she will not refund just because you are not happy with the item.  Well, I want a refund because I bought a game that can not even be played.  If I have to go through PayPal, I sure hope I am able to get my money.  If she didn't respond to PayPal, do they just take the money from her account?  I am even willing to send the item back to her, at her cost.

3 emails so far and nothing.  I am getting her contact info today.  Cindy, Maybe you should do the same with your DP seller? Although, he is overseas which makes it more difficult to call.
