You just have to be careful which sellers you use really ... that goes on all aspects of the transaction.
Some confusion may arise when US sellers put the value on in dollars (which of course they would) and unless the person handling it reads it properly, it will look like a lot more than £18!
From what I've been told, the big sellers are under pressure from their own postal services to complete these forms accurately, so they don't have much choice.
I hadn't realised the tax peeps were soooo stingy here on the value though and thanks for the timely warning Sharon!
I'm sure they'd put a flag on your address so that every parcel/package from abroad would be closely scrutinised and perhaps even opened!
