HOTMAIL and my theorie.

Is it just me? Or have someone made the same experience that 60% of all mails sent to a hotmail account go directly into the spam folder.

If this is true (i do not have a hotmail account) WHY did`nt look all hotmail User into its spam folder?

I have made the experience that the most ebay member (buyer / seller) not reply on my mails. If i got a reply then something like "oh sorry i found your X mails in my Spam Folder"

But sometimes and that annoys me really. Buyer / Seller with a hotmail account leave negative feedback on Ebay (I saw that a few times on he ebay feedbacks and a friend of mine got 4 negatives because the buyer (Hotmail) did not reply on his mails and stated "seller didn`t contact me"

So if my Ebay Mail Account is Hotmail and i got no Mails from Sellers or Buyers why do people not contact the Seller/ Buyer by themselfs?

I have sold a few cards in november to a ebay member with a hotmail account. No reactions on my mails. After nearly 3 month i got a mail from her. She will leave negative feedback because she never got a mail from me and believe i did not want to sell her the cards.

So i mailed back that i have sent her several emails. That was last week. Now i did not know DID she read the mail? Or the Spam folder seperate my mail again.......

The Problem is she left a few times negative to sellers and got negative from buyers "did not reply on mails" "did not pay".....

I do not want to get a negative feedback only because someone does not examine its Spam Folder.

Now i bought something on Ebay a few days ago and the seller has... RIGHT a hotmail account and did not reply on my mails....  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I use a hotmail account and in my opinion it is very easy to see what you want and what you don't want to read.  I have mine set up to put everything not from my buddy list into my junk file.  I check my junk file two times a day to make sure someone new hasn't written, then I delete them all.  (I get up to 30 junk mails a day blah)
But seriously, if you know you bought/sold  something and are awaiting the response, there is no excuse for not checking.  I think these people are using hotmail as an excuse to be rude or whatever.

I agree.  I have a yahoo account, but it also has a junk mail (spam) folder.  It automatically puts what it feels is junk or spam in this folder.  However, I check it everyday to be sure.  Sometimes, responses to a question I asked a seller will appear in there.  However, I guess not everyone checks their junkmail folder, but I think it is something that everyone should make a habit of.

T & F ~ I think you ought to get yourself a yahoo account as soon as you can and change your default email address on eBay over to the new one.

I had problems with a seller not being able to contact me a while back and I don't use Hotmail as my eBay contact address either. I couldn't find out what was wrong so in the finish I got another email address which I've used that one ever since. I was lucky that time because I kept trying to contact her and finally succeeded after two weeks, an only then did I realise there was something seriously wrong.
I was lucky that time and thankfully no negatives or angry emails got left and the transaction was concluded successfully!
 
I find that the Hotmail inboxes get full very quickly unless they're the paid-for larger inboxes ... a LOT of people use the free ones and in most cases it's far too small for use on eBay. I hate having to contact hotmail addresses for this reason alone!
AOL addresses come a close second ...  
Junk/spam filters obviously have their uses, espcially if you're getting high volumes of rubbish each day but I think a lot of people don't know how to set them up properly and that's where the problems occur.

You should be able to get a free yahoo.de account easily and their inbox size is 100MB ~ plenty of room for an email or two!

I don't know about using Yahoo Mail.  That's where I have my email account, and I have had a ton of problems for the past six months.

Every now and then, there's some sort of glitch with the site.  Email coming from people in my address book, as well as any email with an attachment, has been automatically routed to trash!  I've put in so many complaints with Yahoo, and they keep saying that it must be my filters or maybe even a problem with my browser.  It's neither.  Yahoo mail hiccups every now and then, and they don't want to admit it.

If I sound angry, it's because I am.  I'm a freelance writer and I'm now having major problems with my biggest client because a document they sent me was routed to the trash folder and deleted without me ever knowing it had been sent.  I'm in the process of moving over to a different email service.

What about the gmail accounts?
I recall Roz saying that she and Mark had invites which they could send to people for them to get their own gmail email address with, but I don't know if they hve any of them left or not?

I use ntl which is one of the big cable companies here in the UK and I also have cable TV and my broadband connection with them too.
I have had problems with them, similar to my other main email provider and I don't really know why either as no explanations were given at the time. One minute everything worked fine and then nothing ...  no emails coming through for days at a time and it taking several attempts for mail to be sent. Okay, it's not my livelihood at stake here, but when you've got eBay auctions to pay for and people trying to contact you with shipping info etc then things can get a bit hairy!
The only thing I could think of was that perhaps their servers were under some sort of virus/worm attack, which in turn affected everyone using their email service.
That may sound a bit far-fetched, but I do know of other email providers in the US that have just that problem a few months back ... in fact it was a global problem with a LOT of nasty viruses/worms/malicious code clogging up everything!
Mine seems to have settled itself down once again, but I do understand your annoyance over your missing document using Yahoo.
I suppose there's always Lycos ... but I don't know if they're any better or not. I have an email account with them which I rarely use, so I can't say if there are any issues with emails being re-directed to junk/trash folders or not.

Hard to know which email provider to recommend then!

Yep, I have now got 10 spare invites so if anyone wants gmail, let me know. I won't waste them by sending them to people if they don't want them though (as they are worth an ice cream in Hyde Park London to the skaters there  )

I've been using Wanadoo free email for about a year with no problems, fingers crossed, however when i briefly used AOL (rubbish) as my ISP, i had all sorts of problems and could not access my mail from Wanadoo. So beware, it could be your ISP causing mail problems.

I know of others who've used AOL and had loads of problems with them.
Personally, I wouldn't touch 'em with a barge pole!  

Wanadoo is the old Freeserve isn't it?
I thought you could only use that if you had a BT line/service?

yeah, i despise AOL, but they had a free months trial, which was handy while i was setting up my broadband connection....
I don't know if it has to be a bt line, but as my landlord has one it would be rude not to use it!
