Why on earth is it base sets are listed in the NSU price guide at $15.00 when one can find numerous unsold auctions on eBay for the same sets for $0.99.

And if you post on NSU Card Talk that its wrong, all they say is use the price guide error submission form. So we would be therefore doing their job for them which is then published in a magazine which we then pay for!  Roll Eyes

So keep up the good work Mark and Roz (plus the tons of people entering auctions into the price guide)  Grin Grin

Maybe the NSU price guide is more reflective of what people are paying at the local card or comic book shop.  Plus, with lead time on the printing, it may not be as accurate at the price guide here.

No probs at all Olly, actually I need to ensure base sets are in the price guide... and also Spike needs to go on there. Ooh I have just had an idea for a pic source Wink (coooooming Chris)

Yeah very true, cards are always more expensive off ebay, however ebay is booming like mad in card sales and represents a HUGE proportion of the market these days (I have been discussing this proportion with a lot of people of late Smiley on both sides of the Pond).

That's true.  Of all the cards I've bought, only three have come from a source other than eBay.  It certainly makes the price guide quite relevant!

And not only does it work but we don't have the 25 case incentive card from the Potter Update set listed as a "WHOOPING WILLOW" like someone else does

LOL

My favorite typo was the auction listing the "UNFROGGING THE FUTURE" prop card! Grin

EBay has far more relevance for us card buyers here in the UK as we just don't have the card shops and other retailers like you have over in the US.
The few places we do have over-charge by a horrible degree and I think more and more people are taking the plunge on eBay as a fairly reliable source for the cards and other collectibles they want.
Sad but true.

We have a Forbidden Planet here (who only stock a few retail cars), ToysRUs (ditto) and Travelling Man (in Gamestation) who doen't bother stocking trading cards at all! However, TM does stock the 9-card sleeves and soft sleeves but if you want anything else you're stuffed as he just doesn't stock it!
I wouldn't say Derby was exactly a tiny place either but you'd think someone would have some of the really basic items wouldn't you? It's useless! Roll Eyes

I agree! Roz & Mark, thanks for the price guide a million times over. It must be a lot of work.

It's already helped me several times, and I try to enter auctions when I see them.

It's always much appreciated Smiley every auction helps!

Valid point, but I didn't fancy getting into a fight with our American members because they might like Wall Mart and it's descendant Asda.
